Margarito vs Cotto

DLH fought the best out there, so how was he being protected? They put him against Whitaker, Tito, Mosely, and a then very highly regarded Quartey Amen pjpj!!! Not to mention,Vargas when he moved up and Vargas was bigger and stronger and B-Hop when Oscar knew he had no business at middleweight.He took on Quartey and Mosley in there primes. Oscar has never ducked anyone and always made the fights the people wanted to see. Even Mayorga coming off almost two years off was risky. Maybe had it not been for the long layoff there would be no chance for Mayorga, but after that long of a layoff it wasn't a completely safe fight.

If no one wants to fight Margarito, why don't Arum put Margarito vs Cotto on Sept 09th ??? they are both promoted by Top Ranks so it wouldn't be so difficult to put the matches up... Do you guys think that Arum is protecting Cottos perfect records like he did to young DLH when he was with top rank? Why would Arum want to put two of his best guys against each other. Either way he loses and hurts one of the two guys he is trying hard to push either way. That would be stupid.

Arum is just managing his career carefully. Cotto is a good young fighter with a lot of potential. Therefore a fight against Margarito should be put off for at least 12 months. He should step up his competition but not against a really dangerous puncher after a jump up in weight. My fear is that if you put him in with Margarito, he could go the way of Vargas and become damaged goods. I see a lot of parallels between Cotto and Vargas. Both have an aggressive come forward style with good power, but both have average chins and are suceptible to being hit with big punches.

Arum is simply managing Cotto's career intelligently. He has taken on some dangerous contenders so far but nobody that could destroy him. If he takes on a guy like Margarito right now, he might go the direction of Vargas and become damaged goods. I like Cotto a lot, but I see a lot of parallels between him and Vargas. Both had good power and a come forward style, but both had average chins and were open to being hit a lot. Cotto has punishing power, but a fight against Margarito is 12 months away at least. Cotto's got to get comfortable at 147.

ARUM is trying to milk cotto for as long as he can..but i bet cotto loses his next fight or 2

Read my post carefully.... I SAID YOUNG DLH! Look at he's record as superfeather, light and super lightweight... he didn't fight the best out there. Don't get me wrong, he did fight the elite fighters when he moved up to welterweight. Im a huge DLH fan, but I think he was little protected when he was at those smaller weight classes.
