at 147, Ike is a beast. hes very strong, and powerful there.
hes still got skills, people gotta remember he put up a great fight with a prime DE LA HOYA(no ike didnt win,)and lost to a bigger Vargas. I know hes got a fight with forrest, but look at who he could fight at welter.
ZAB- he'd have size on him, and would knock judah out
Margartio- be a war, a pick em fight, Ike has a great chance of winning with his jab
Baldomir/gatti - Ike would beat both of em
Miguel Cotto - be a damn good fight, close won,i think Ike has a good enuff chin to take cotto's shots, and would eventually knock out cotto late rounds
PBF- would be alot bigger then PBF, would give Floyd a great challenge.
Hatton - Knock hatton out, round 6-9
wat im saying is, he has a GREAT chance of beating all these fighters, and would be bigger and stronger then most welterweights out there. at jr/middle he doesnt have all those advanteges, although hes still a contender there.
yea his pressure, size and power would be way too much 4 judah, people sickly overate judah, who beat NO1. it would be similar to kosta vs judah. zab looked pretty good n his last fight. he could do some serious damage at welter.
yea judah's chin is always a sitting duck for big punchers

he's a shell of himself imo. doesnt have that real crisp quick accurate punching that he used to have and he doesnt seem to react well to punches anymore either. I was a big fan of him in his younger days. that jab was a thing of beauty
would he beat Judah? He's a really good fighter but I don't know if he'd be great against a good southpaw since his best weapon, that great jab, would be out of play for the most part. I admit I've really only seen his fights against Oscar and Vargas (I thought he beat Oscar). Either way, I hope that the fight with Forrest actually happens as scheduled and that one or both of them improve their stock and become marketbale for big fights as both have/had talent
Thats a good point.A properly trained and properly motivated Judah would definetly give Ike trouble. But Quartey's pressure, size, and power would be the difference IMO.
I don't know about the weight issue, but whatever division he is in I still consider him a threat. He's looked pretty good in his comeback so far.And shown how serious he is about it in the Philips fight.

are you sure ike wasnt robbed in those fights becuase trhats why he retired he felt he won both fights . and both were in vegas against hbo fighters
He felt he was robbed but he wasnt. I was cheering for Quartey in both fights, have them both on tape I still think he lost. He was robbed just before he fought De La Hoya when his victory over Jose Luis Lopez was changed to a draw, even if Lopez knocked him down in the 11th.
I totally agree, I've been a big Quartey fan for a long time. The questions you have to ask are, can he comfortably make 147? And most the fights you mentioned would be wars, would his age start to catch up? But you can also ask, how would any of these guys deal with the Bazzoka Jab?
If he gets past Forrest, maybe even Winky. Their styles are pretty similar.
I don't think that he would do well against all the contenders you mention. He has an intriguing style against Judah; Hatton; Cotto; Baldomir/Gatti, but I would only favor him to win against Baldomir/Gatti and clearly against Judah. I think Cotto KO's him; I think Hatton KO's or TKO's him; and I think Floyd is just too slick for his simple style (too many 1-2's).

Ike is a good fighter he just doesnt understand the concept of putting together his punches. You just can win big fights throwing only hard jabs and big right hands. He's got to put punches together. He's got Felix Sturm syndrome only he's more talented. You gotta do more than thorw 1-2's.
I agree but all the long lay offs scare me. I don't want to see him move in too fast like Tito did after his retirement and remember that Ike was gone much longer then Tito was .
