Yeah, man, that first Thompson fight he showed all-time great chin and heart. On a funny note, those two police officers look like peasants standing next to him.:D
I remember after his fight with Thompson, a reporter or something asked him how he felt, and he said ''It's just few few bruises.'' lol, or words to that effect, he took a lot of punishment, shows hoe good a chin he had though, because Thompson could bang a bit.
Calzaghe at a disadvantage? I don't buy that. He had been in training for a fight, period. I don't think Calzaghe would've trained much if any differently than he did. Eubank was at a much greater disadvantage. With proper time to prepare, he definitely could've, and I think would've won.
of course you guys act like joe cal is english just like you guys think that all the isles is english except for that one istance call Bannockburn. Us americans have bigger asperations we think we own all the world. Didn't you guys try that a time or to I seem to recall....
its a shame u british boxing fans can only talk about 3 or 4 boxers..and 2 of them are retired..bumsthats kinda funny but their good fighters are really good of course almost none are white anglo saxon not that I care, I would just think you brits might be a little touchy, even though you guys abolished slavery well over 100 years before we did.
eubank had calzaghe out on his feet in the dyin seconds of the fight, if the fight had gone on 5 seconds longer eubank would of stopped him
this was a real close, tough fight, calzaghe scored about three knockdows on eubank & two of them in the latter rounds where eubank was possibly winnin those rounds before the dodgy knockdowns/slips. after eubank won round 7 it looked like he might boss the 2nd half of the fight, but calz came back out swingin & battlin away again & forcin eubank back

OK,lets say this, the Eubank that fought Denys Cronin would of taken the Calzaghe that fought Eubank every day of the week. Eubank looked awesome that night showing his full repertoire of punches(left uppercut, right uppercut, the whole works),such an impressive display of power and accuracy. If you attacked a fit Eubank straight on like that with no angles, your getting picked off and countered to pieces. Your getting hurt early and often.
Eubank had the potential to win everything,I would definately pick a weight-monitored 24 year old Eubank to beat any Calzaghe at 168,although we never a weight-monitored 24 year old Eubank at 168:)
Neither Calzaghe or Eubank were at their best in that fight,it was a messy fight.
Calzaghe had never been beyond eight rounds before, and had never been on the big stage. Eubank had gone 12 rounds almost every couple of months during his infamous reign, and had been the centre of attention on the big stages. Calzaghe was preparing for Steve Collins, until with 10 days to go Collins pulls out of the fight and Eubank steps in. Eubank only had 10 days to prepare, lost 20 pounds in seven days and needed an injection in his knee to mask the pain of a knee injury he had. So both men were at major disadvantages and it caused for a very messy fight. I think because of Eubank's knee injury he couldn't move around the ring as much as he usually did,so he just had to stand with Calzaghe against his will. Calzaghe was just trying to throw bombs, trying to knockout Eubank all the time. It was a messy fight.
