Juan Diaz Says He’s Not Looking Past Saturday

If Diaz gets by Suico, then he goes after Corrales
His opponent on Saturday night, Randy Suico, is an absolute unknown to fight fans, but 22-year-old Texas lightweight Juan Diaz says he isn’t looking past the Filipino and towards a big-money, marquee fight in the fall.
“Pacquiao started out with losses too,” WBA champion Diaz (29-0) told TTS. “I don’t look past anyone. I respect every fighter. Besides, Suico will be up for his biggest opportunity to date so he’ll be ready.”
Suico is 24-2, a 26-year-old orthodox fighter who has lost to his two biggest name opponents, Javier Jauregui (2005) and Mzonke Fana (2004), and has amassed most of his wins against iffy opposition in the Philippines.
Of Manny Pacquiao, he did lose his twelfth pro fight, in 1996, and lost again in 1999, so Diaz’s point is well taken.
Should he get past Suico, Diaz will be lobbying hard to get a crack at Diego Corrales.
Diaz is a humble, hungry fighter, who still lives with his parents, for crying out loud. So you can be certain his head is screwed on straight and tight, and that Corrales would have his hands full if and when they get it on…

Who currs....
Seriously though,Freitas was throuroughly outboxing/outpointing Corrales before he got tired.
let me repeat that.
FREITAS was thourughly OUTBOXING/outpointing Corrales before he got TIRED. :D
I rather see a Freitas fight first,he can definetly beat Freaitas.
As for Corrales,Diaz has excellent stamina and I think he can deal with Corrales for 12 rounds,DIAZ BY UD.
I agree that Freitas was outboxing Corrales but I don't think he got tired. I think the vicious body punching by Corrales slowed him down enough to be vulnerable to more big shots to the head. Then Freitas quit. The reason I think Freitas is an easier fight is because he quit and like you said Diaz is relentless. Corrales on the other hand will never quit, so Diaz pretty much has to win by decision. I don't think Diaz winning is out of the question... rather I think he has a pretty decent shot. Forgetting about the outcome I would love to see the fight and I really like both Diaz and Corrales.
BIG MISTAKE. He doesn't have great punching power like Freitas, and you saw how Corrales dealt with Frietas.

Good one. :)
That's the same thing in my mind. Diaz doesn't have the pop to KO Coralles as evident in his last fight. If that fight happens it's got to be Diaz by decission or Chico by K.O.
But Diaz is much too young to be taking such a big risk. We don't want another good prospect being frustrated this early as in Vargas case.
A freitas fight would be more appropriate.
Man you must be pyschic because I was thinking about Vargas the whole time I was writing the post. Young champions have to be brought along gradually or the effects can be disasterous. Actually it could be worse then Vargas if you look at David Reid.
Well now that Diaz looked so impressive in his last fight do you people think he'll really go for Chico? :)
I think it's going to be a big mistake.
BIG MISTAKE. He doesn't have great punching power like Freitas, and you saw how Corrales dealt with Frietas. If Diaz is to win, it will be either by decision or TKO, and I don't see TKO happening. Diaz will have to fight a perfect fight to win, Corrales won't. Also, I don't know if Diaz has ever had his chin-checked like Corrales will check it. Why not fight a different belt holder like Freitas? Freitas seems to be a safer fight.
Hell no, I hate that overrated fucker. Rocky Juarez is reppin Houston the right way, fighting guys not old bums like Diaz.
your just mad cause he retired your boy- joel perez lol
I Got Love For Diaz Too. He's My Favorite Young Fighter Out There. I'd Rather See Him Fight One The Other Belt Holders First Like Freitas And Then Fight Corrales. I Still Think He Can Beat Corrales Though. Last Time We Saw Corrales He Was Ktfo, He Could Be Shot From His Battles With Castillo.
Corrales is scared to fight anybody now. He's only looking for paydays now. No way in hell he risks a fight against Juan Diaz, who would knock the living hell out of him.
Corrales used to be a warrior. Now he's just a worrier
Go watch boxing.

i like diaz a lot, hes one of my favorite young fighters out there.
i leanred quick though that he gets hated on a lot on this forum for whatever reason.
so i pretty much gave up on trying to say good things about him awhile ago.
His power definitely isn't that great. It's still there though, not fantastic, but it can still do some damage. Weren't you impressed at all with the Cotto fight?
I'm a hater so if he knocks out a Jermain Taylor, I still wouldn't be impressed lol.
He get's hit easily and he doesnt have the power to back anybody up. Whenever he shows some balls and steps up with big boys, he's going to get ktfo.
