I'm having a debate with my buddy trying to explain to him what sizes of gloves are used in the pros. He doesn't believe me the the heavier wieghts use bigger gloves ,pls tell me if this is correct or wrong...thanks in advance!
Bantam to welterweight 8oz
junior middle to light heavy 10oz
heavyweights ( cant remember if they use 10oz or 120z?)
In the pros
Middleweight to Heavy is 10 oz
Below middle is 8 oz
In the amateurs
Middle to heavy is 12 oz in some
Below Middle is 10 oz in some.
I thought amateur gloves were heavier, like 14-16...
Thats not right.
I know Floyds gloves were at least 10 oz in the last fight against zab.
Well it really is up to the fighters fighting.
Winning gloves seem bigger than the other brands even though they are the same weight.
Thats not right.

Are you sure they were not just more bulky like Amir Khan has?
The rules laid down by all sanctioning bodies states that in the pros middle and above use 10 oz and below use 8 oz.

I think lightweight and under use 10 oz gloves while heavier weight classes use 12 oz gloves. I don't think that the pros use anything heavier than the 12 oz gloves.
