This guys career is basically MADE for hollywood! In that rodriguez fight, when the ref comes up to him and checks out his swollen eye, Shit like that is what they usually put in boxing movies.
Hopefully in like 10 years MAX they make a movie about this guy. So many great fights. Soo many FOTYs. Such a profound impact on the sport. I know he's changed the way i watch boxing, and im probably not speaking for myself.
A guy like that needs some recognition, or else his awsome career is gonna be gone in like 40 years.
It kinda motivates me to go to flim school, so that if nobody else is gonna make the movie, i will. lol
The Philippines.
Here's the trailer:

I was ready to bash it but it actually doesnt look that bad.
Actually, I think the fact that he never beat a great boxer, and the fact that he will never be considered "great" should be an aspect of the movie.
It could be a sad movie about how he never made it to that "great" status that he wanted so, so, so bad, and all of his heart and determination, and how popular he was, but just never really that good.
Sport movies don't always have to have happy endings, you know.
Just look at: Friday Night Lights
a could totally agree with you.
but Gatti need to go some conflict outside the ring to turn it into a movie.
I could be wrong but I read somwhere that he has been stabbed maybe once or twice. But then again...what boxer hasnt had outside conflict ?

Great idea!
This idea needs to be pitched to studio's. With all the action, this could do well at the box office.
I think this is a great idea, at least considering how much it seems like hollywood seems to be running out of ideas... Its been a year full of remakes: The Hills have Eyes, The Omen, Superman Returns etc. I think an Arturo Gatti movie would be a nice original idea, may i also add Johnny Tapia, and Bernard Hopkins to the list? :boxing:

Hopefully never, but in Hollywood there seems to be an overwhelming sensation for mediocrity.
There is more then enought In-Ring action and stuff to make a movie off of. And its freakin HOLLYWOOD.
They exagerate and make shit up all the time. They could take his alcohol problem to another level. They could make his friendship with ward a bigger part.
And if his boldamir fight is as exciting as we expect it to be, then theres another thing to top onto the pile.
U do not need to beat the greats to be a great boxer. His career and excitement in the ring is more then enought to make a great movie off of
Gatti has had great moments inside the ring but it takes more than that to make a movie about him.
A fighter's life outside the ring is also important. Muhammad Ali had a very controversial life outside of boxing with the Vietnam war. Jimmy Braddock suffered tremendously during The Great Depression. There's really nothing about Gatti's life outside the ring that stands out.
And besides, Gatti's defining fights were against mediocre opponents. If he would've beaten a Dela Hoya or a Mayweather in his career, maybe it's worth it.
Speaking of fighter's life stories, Manny Pacquiao's movie just came out and he isn't even done with his fighting career.
Gatti had an outside life full of alcohal abuse they can talk about how Buddy helped him stay focused to boxing.
He was your classic got stardom at a young age and starting spiraling downwards cause of his night life

yeah deffinatly but who would play him.....
will smith... who else?
They would prolly find some nobody actor that looks exactly like him. But he has such a unique voice that it would be close to impossible to find a guy that could be him. they'd have to use some creativity or something!!
