both guys are gym rats..and both claim that 'no one trains like I train' motto....basically if these 2 were to meet each other in a gym...who would leave 1st?
True, Toney is still one of the greatest regarless of how Buddha-like is body has become, I't would have been great for him to have stayed & dominated the Middleweight devision, but part of my enjoys watching his fat ass give these Hw so much trouble. :D
I know what you mean, his level of skill is extremely rare in the heavyweights, but he doesnt really belong there. I agree I think he is still a great fighter and he will still make HOF but he could've been All-Time, and his name would've echoed next to SRR, Duran, Ali, Chavez...etc

I think Toney want's to be HW champ, & he can't do that unless he puts on some unneccesary weight, but at a lower weight he'd probably dominate.
What I was referring to was, he could've stayed middle or super middle his entire career if he wanted to. Maybe move up to Light-heavy towards the tail end of his career to win a title in another divison like B-Hop did. JT has very good power (in the middle weights) and is one of the most fundamentally sound fighters out there. James Toney doesn't lose on skill he loses on stamina and work rate. Even exhausted he makes guys look bad against him.
I think earlier in his career he could've even won a title at jrMiddleweight if he had the discipline of PBF or B-Hop.
Nothing much to add except that imagine if James Toney had the training discipline of either one of these two guys. I think James Toney could've been an all time great.
Damn tough choice, but just on the fact that B-Hop has kept it up for so long and stayed in incredible shape at 160. he looked like a natural LHW when he faught Tarver so to be a natural 175/185 pounder and to be able to stay at 160 for so long proves the guy is a machine, if Mayweather keeps his religious training regiment for a few more years it'll be a different story.
B-Hop does, Floyd be partying alot since he is younger he can get away with that but B-hop is old school. Dude was a solid 160 he looked like he weighed 185 when he fought Tito he was diesel for sure.
That's just silly. Floyd ran out of quality opponents to face at the lower levels, and moved up for A) more money, and B) more competition. What, you want to see him beat the hell out of Corralles and Castillo again? You want to see him outbox the hell out of Morales (we all know it would happen, Mayweather is better than Zahir Raheem is, and Raheem slapped Morales around)? The same goes for Barerra. It'd be so pointless for him to stay at the lower weights when there is so much more to do at higher weights. Floyd never looked drained for a single fight, and I don't see any reason to think that he moved up because he could no longer make the weight.
IF that is your reasoning, why'd he jump from 140 so fast?
Also, to everyone saying that it's B-Hop BECAUSE he's in shape year round, when has Floyd ever been out of shape?
I can't really pick one over the other, to be honest, because they both train like crazy, but their regiments are a bit different.
well one thing u said isnt true im not trying to argue but after the ndou fight he said he was done at 135 cus he just couldnt make the weight with complete ease like he used to so that was a contributing factor to why he moved up but ur right about the money and better opposition part as well
the gy who has not gone up an ounce since 94'(besides at his lhw fight, of course), being a 41 year old man in a sport where 35 is "over-the-hill", while all the top competitors are switch weight classes like its nothing, just so they dont have to work as hard as him to make weight is the harder trainer.
most guys (including floyd) lose the ability to get down to weight as they go on (notice the weight class switches by pbf) but not bhop. for him it seems its gotten easier, having started at 177 and only getting lower and lower as he gets older and older.
when floyd gets back down to less then his original weight, at the age of 40, then he has a chance of surpassing bhop.

shutup. There is SOOO much more hatton haters then there are fans. SOOO many more, especially on this forumn. so many people hate him that its almost rediculous
I agree actually. I was just trying to get a cheap laugh, like always. I actually don't have a problem with Hatton. I just don't think he's a technical fighter, he's a slugger for sure.
Since a decent amount of the boxing public were dumped in super glue and accidently fell on Hatton's nuts.

Hopkins... i've actually seen a clip of Mayweather eating potato chips while doin sit ups... i'm sure its not typically of him though :)
I believe they were actully extra spicy doritos.
non-coincidentally, the biggest gym rats are usually the more technical fighters... and are usually the best in their respective divisions.
AKA trinidad, hopkins, hatton, and mayweather.
But the guy that trains the most? id say hopkins. I know a bit about each fighters training, but not enough to make a clear decision.
The only reason i say hopkins is because he stays fit year round and runs all the time.
But again, i have no idea
Since when is Hatton a technical fighter???
That was the whole point though. He always does that when the cameras come. He eats a donught and then brags about how he is the only boxer that can get away with that because he trains like a monster and doesnt have to kill himself to make weight
i know.. . just kidding around, that's always the first thing that i remember when "Floyd training" is brought up.. ;)
i used to do it all the time, because i thought i knew what im talking about, but just in case i was wrong i would say that at the end so nobody could rag on me.
I did it so much that now its like a habit. lol
I figured it was just habit, it's like one of those patterns in the English language I think. Just something you say and don't really know why. Hope you didn't take offense, I wasn't singleing you out bro, it just crossed my mind and I had to bring it up, lol.
