I just read on a good website that Winky isnt going to pay the 100,000 for the WBA to sacntion the bout. The WBA is saying they may take Taylors belt away because of this. That's some BS.
I dont get why the fees are so high, I mean what exactly is it the WBA does to deserve $100,000???
Thats no chum change man, I dont care if a fighter is gettin paid 1 million to fight, they still shouldn't have to pay 100,000 to win a damn belt.
Shame on the WBA.
What a joke.
Pathetic.
And wtf is up with Winky not paying???
Maybe hes expecting a loss and wants to get as much money as he can.
repeated,
it's of no consequence... the WBC is on the line, Wright doesn't care about belts, he cares about fighting the big names.
Wright's saving around $200,000 by nay-saying the WBA, WBO titles... smart move IMO
btw, for the Taylor fans, i'm pretty sure the way it's working is if Taylor wins, he keeps his belts all the same, if he loses, the WBA and WBO titles then become vacant.
My understanding is that neither fighter is willing to pay the sanctioning fees and that is fairly common. Nothing will be taken from anyone if JT wins, but if Winky wins the WBA title will go to Sturm.
Ok peeps i'd like to clarify this :
1. IF JT wins or DRAWS he gets to keep WBO and WBC titles only. WBA title goes to Felix sturm(whos their regular champ).
2. If Winky wins, Winky only Gets WBC title, WBO becomes Vacant and WBA goes to Sturm.
I dunno what's wrong with WBA but thats really fucked up
I hope this goes to show how bullshit those organizations and thoes belts are. Next thing you know a fighter will lose with a belt and still have it because the challenger didn't pay the fee...oh wait...
The WBA and Don King and the rest of the blood suckers of the sport can go fuck themselves. I can't believe that a fighter has to pay an organization to sanction it. Can't thjey take money froom somewhere else, like PPV or ticket sales? Everyone else does.
This is what's wrong with boxing today. If people don't like you as champ they will strip your belt give it to some paper champ. And the shitty part is, every sanctioning body does this.
Whatever happend to knocking peopls freaking heads off and being the undisputed champion of the world?
Although title unification bouts are exciting.
Well said.
Karma for that!

Winky is thinking it's bogus that he's getting charged an additional fee even though he agreed to pay the sanctioning fees of 50k... which is outrageous in the first place for a "non-profit" organization. Whoever wins this fight will be the recognized middleweight champion of the world, regardless if the WBA belt is up for grabs or not.
I am glad about all of this: hope all fighters, stray away from these meaningless belts...who really cares, just fight the best out there...if anything, maybe just use the Ring Magazine belt for the time being as the "Championship Belt"; at least until everything is cleaned up, and a creation of a Legit, no pay, Title Belt is created; I am not talking about a Magazine belt either, though I am not really complaining...I am talking about a belt, one in each division, somehow voted and established by non-bias people, that create the one, and only belt.
If that makes any sense ;) :D

Is this what you are all talking about???
WINKY REFUSES TO PAY $105,000...WBA LIKELY TO STRIP TAYLOR AS A RESULT!
By G. Leon
The WBA apparently doesn't think the Jermain Taylor vs. Winky Wright winner is worthy of being called the middleweight champion-- the sanctioning body has decided not to sanction this weekend's bout and may be posed to strip Taylor over something he didn't do. The problem is that the challenger,Wright, refused to pay the WBA's request of over $100,000 in sanctioning, and as a result, the WBA intends to penalize the champion, Taylor, for Wright's behavior even though Taylor's representatives put in writing that the champion was willing to meet the WBA's demand for more than $50,000 in sanctioning fees. The WBA, however, wanted almost twice as much from Wright compared to Taylor in order to sanction the bout. In a letter to Scott Shaffer, DiBella Entertainment's lawyer, the WBA wrote, "even though you indicated on behalf of Jermain Taylor and Mr. DiBella that your camp is willing to provide some of the necessary information and the share of the fees requested attributable to the champion's purse the WBA simply cannot sanction the fight as a championship bout without satisfaction of all requirements necessary from both camps."
Yes that's it. I dont think Taylor will have many belts left after this. I think he's down to one after this.
