Hatton/Collazo, Brewster/Lyiakovich, or Barrera/Juarez? I forgot all about Brewster/Lyiakovich when i mentioned Hatton/Collazo, so far I think its a toss up between them two fights

It was a beautiful display of the sweet science, man. Doesn't have to be competitive to be FOTY... or does it? it can be a personal favorite fight of yours, but in terms of a good fight, it wasn't. Calzaghe fought a GREAT fight, but Lacy didn't. fight of the year always goes to the most competitive bout. after all, Castillo-Corrales I wasn't exactly a good display of boxing on any level. it was amazing brawling but not good boxing.

Winky vs Taylor, next week I think. That should be another candidate no way, boring jab contest is my guess. i say brewster liakahovic

Monshipour v Sithchatchawal WBA super bantamweight title 18th March 06 This has got to be a contender for fight of the last 5 years

Sithchatchawal vs Monshipour is easily the fight of the year so far IMO, and its going to be hard to find one that can compete with it. Barrera/Juarez anyone!?!? yea that was a great fight. i dont think it will get FOTY though... And Vargas/Mosely is gonna be a good fight. just because they are a little older doesnt meant they cant fight excitingly anymore. im willing to bet this is a good, if not great, fight. And there is no way anything played on ESPN2 will win FOTY. there hasnt been any good fights on there since last year. maybe later, but definetly not yet.

Brewster-Liakahovic was exciting. I still think about how hard those punches Brewster was landing were. It looked like he had a punching bag right in front of him....in Liakahovic on the ropes, and was just throwing the hardest right crosses he possibly could. Most of them landed flush on the side of Liakahovic's face. Brewster absorbed his share of punishment of course, but I distinctly remember Brewster landing the overall harder punches throughout the fight, even though he clearly was losing. i think we might need to look at fights away from PPV, espn has had some good fights with both sides trading shots

Why do so many of you keep insisting that one-sided fights like Calzaghe-Lacy are the best fight of the year?!?

so far its a cross between de la hoya/mayorga and hopkins/tarver are you joking? those fights were as one-sided as it gets. fight of the year is something among: Brewster-Liakhovich Morales-Pacquiao II Mormeck-Bell I'd probably go with Mormeck-Bell

FOTY will be taken over by the always exciting GATTI when he vaces BOLDAMIR. i willing to bet. It may not sound like FOTY material, but it will be. I also Think TAYLOR vs WRIGHT, VARGAS vs MOSELY, and even JULIO vs QUINTANA have FOTY potential written all over them. We are in for one hell of a summer fellas!
