Holding in a fight annoys me to be honest. When a boxer is seriously hurt and then holds on for dear life, that's fine. But what John Ruiz, Wladimir Klitschko (just like Lennox Lewis) and Nikolay Valuev are doing is illegal, annoying and just not what a fighter is supposed to do. The referees should do their job and force the boxers not to hold.
We call it all the time in the amatuers, or atleast I do. I will not allow it. The pros are different though. You disqualify somebody for holding and your not going to be working much at all after that.
Rockin' :boxing:
you do some ref'n dont you?
i think that punching to the back of the head is a much bigger problem in the fight game right now. more and more i see guys who are undisciplined or technically mediocre who throw punches that are bound to strike their opponents behind the noggin. mayorga and sam peter are just two top level examples but i see a lot of it going on. i remember david tua landed a vicious shot to the back of michael moorers head after he already had him going down and it fucked his world up. yet i cant tell you the last time i saw a point deducted for it mus less see a fighter disqualified for it. hell not even judah managed to get a point taken away and he made it as vicious and blatant as possible.
i think this is a much bigger issue than holding simply because it is endagering guys careers if you allow someone to get away with it over and over again.
Sorry to tell you, but hoding is just as much a part of the game as, lets say ring generalship.
But the rules say it is not allowed to hold or wrestle. If it was allowed to do it, I would not complain about it.
You better stop. Otherwise I will report this post.
Wladimir was even holding the small featherfisted Chris Byrd. So check your argumentation before arguing with me - oh, you did, that's why you are getting personal, you have got no point but have to defend Klitschko with your life.
Against Byrd, Wlad did some holding in the third, other than that, he beat the living shit out of byrd. Ruiz is the only boxer i can think of that holds far too much. he must clinch 10 times a round.
Labeling Wladimir a holder is retarted, and yes that means your a retard.

hell i dont blame them for holding...if its going to save my ass then I would do it too...fighters get hurt and swinging back is not the answer...hold hold hold within the ralms of the sport..

i fight in the ammatures myself and i hate it whan someone holds me, totally agree the holding has to stop(and thisis coming from a wlad fan).

the only fighter that holds excessively is ruiz. wlad punches a hell of a lot more than he holds
