i see your point there mate but sum1 like mayweather aint exactly gonna go broke the day hes retires is he , the amount of moneys hes got hes family could be setup for the next few generations
so cmon boxers realise that theres heeps of respect to be gained from unifying and still heeps of cash
wat is it with boxers these days , all the greats have or tried to unify there division but nobodys interested in it these days
In a nutshell....M-O-N-E-Y.
Old School fighter never dreamed of million dollar paydays and network fighters, they fought for survival and pride. Today's fighters, for the most part...not all...but for the most part, have no sense of what it's really like to be a champion. They're in it to get rich, not carve their names in history alongside the greats...not legitimately anyway. And that's why they don't get the same level of respect as a Robinson or a Louis or an Ali or a Greb, etc., etc.
do you think ODLH can mabye get a super middlewieght title and be a 6 wieght champ
SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT
Oscar never really even had the power for Middleweight mind Super-middleweight,
I think Oscar should face either a light-middleweight or a wleterweight in this final fight the big send off :D maybe Mayweather,Mosley yano one off the big names, but when u think about it its rather a easy choice off fighter its gotta be FLOYD imagin Oscar beats the P4P kind mayweather in his final fight :D tht would be worth 10 4 titles at super-middleweight.
o about super-middleweight thts a stupid way 2 go, their all big guys up their with alot off power,
Calzage - Would be Suiced facing Calzaghe this year great style, awesome Speed and i bet them slaps hit HARD in other words the last guy he would wanna face :D ,
kESSLER-Powerful guy very strong also got some skills would push Oscar all over the place,
Maybe only Beyer he would have a chance vs but Beyers a guy who dont really like moving out off germany so u could say thts a no also.
so mayweathers a challenger then?
cause by your reconing he owns the ibfuckedup belt dont he?
Correct. Until he beats Baldomir or whoever beats Baldomir, he's #1 at 147; but he's no champ.
Emphasis on the "bogus". Sorry man; but I'm a purest. You either are the real champ in a division or you're a contender. I refuse to recognize paper belts and if the keepers of the record books had any balls, they wouldn't either.
True and I admire that. But from a technical historical point of view unfortunately he it will go down that he was a MW title holder.......as bogus as it is. :)
DLH held titles in all sorts of divisions, he just didn't unify any and become the undisputed champion. Mayweather is doing the exact same thing with his career. People just don't unify like they used to. I rememember in 04 we only had two undisputed champions, Hopkins and Spinks. Now we have even less.
Which is why I don't give Mayweather any championship credit north of 135.
He did win as diego said the WBogus title from Sturm so technically he was a MW title holder.

Well, since he didn't unify the 130 Lb division, the 135 Lb division, the 140Lb division, or even win a middleweigh title...I'd say no.

Well, technically he's already a 6 weight champ since he "beat" Felix Sturm for the WBOgus title. Super Middle would make 7, but I don't think DLH could even handle Marcus Beyer. Definitely not Calzaghe or Kessler.
