The one problem with heavyweights is that they are very slow, and they get tired easily. They clinch way too much, and lean on each other way too much. But they do punch the hardest out of all the other weight classes.
right now the welterweights are looking good, lightweaght is pretty alright too...but these days, its not possible to look at one division, fighters are challenging each other over a range of divisions. like a light weight challenging a middlewieght, a featherweight wanting to fight a welter, a middleweight wanting to fight a lightheavy.
Even though the heavyweight division is probably the worst division at the moment in terms of talent, it's still entertaining simply for the fact that anything can happen, and it's still the biggest prize in the sport to to heavyweight champion, even if it is a bit tainted.
Tommy Morrison,Evander Holyfeild,Ray Mercer,George Foreman,Riddick Bowe, Micheal Moorer,Mike Tyson, some of the most exciting ever
What's wrong with Nikolay Valuev? Show come class. LOL :p
It was a great time, I agree.
I loved the heavyweight era right up until the late 90's. Today the heavyweight division is the worst.
My favourites of today are from light welter to super middle - always good fights to be found in those divisions.
I like Welter and Middleweight the best. Welter are the quick punching guys, who don't get tired easy, and their is non-stop action in those fights. Middlewieght is about the same, but the guys are bigger which means harder punches, and more KO's.
Heavyweight. There is nothing like big guys punching each other in the face. Boxing is about punishment and knockouts (at least to me) .... so, Heavyweight. ;)
