During a recent interview with **********, this is what Vic had to say:
NOTE: He will fight Luis Maldonado on June 3rd as the co-main event on Jose Luis Castillo and Diego Corrales.
Is this fight just a stepping stone to face Jorge Arce in the near future?
VIC: I've been to Mexico to get Arce to fight me. He said he wanted to move up after his last fight because he had issue with his weight. If he had trouble with his weight thenn just tell me and Ill move up with him to fight him, but he doesnt want to fight me. I've challenged him personally in the ring, I've sent him messages, but Arce has never sent a message back to me. I'll fight him in America or in his own country, but he never says that he will fight me.
Do you feel you can be at your best in the flyweight division?
VIC: I know Im the best flyweight. If someone feels they are better than me, then im happy to give them my belt. Iy youre better than me then come get my belt. I can show you my power then. If these fighters say they are champions why do they run away from me? Because they are scared of me.
Lorenzo Parra, and Wong Pong are who he is talking about. These guys are just paper champs. They dont fight real opponents. Wong fights wack thai guys, and Parra picks weak opposition to win against. Arce on the other hand should make the fight happen since he thinks hes the best, why not fight Vic? Vic is willing to move up in weight to fight Arce.
I agree. It's not easy being a little fella in boxing, even harder being from the land down under to boot. It's difficult to crack the USA market for anyone, even harder for the Aussies.
Very true, but i think Darchinyan has done well in the US with only 2 fights here. VIC has a 2 year deal with Gary Shaw so we will be seeing alot more of him on tv, starting on Showtime Championship Boxing on Saturday June 3rd b4 Castillo -vs- Corrales III.
Vic Darchinyan is a very entertaining fighter, don't know why so little people know about him.

I think Vic is looking ahead of Maldonado. Not a good idea, his record shows he can punch. I think this has upset written all over it.
I think NOT.
Maldonado has fought nothin but bums in MexiCali, there is no way he wins against VIC.
ill put my 15 Mil on Vic, any takers???
the 5-3 guy,
wasnt a title bout...
but you make good points...
oh ok, i see what you are talkin about.
But im glad you get my point cuz i guess it really doesnt matter if his belt was on the line or not.
if vic feel he is too good for his wieght class then go up that what boxers do
He said in the interview that he would move up in weight class if thats where ARCE wanted to fight him, but still no word from ARCE.
we shall wait and see. If Arce doesnt fight VIC by the end of this year and doesn't give a reasonable excuse (there arn't many excuses really, definitely not the money because there is so much interest around VIC -vs- ARCE that it would bring in the most money in the flyweight division) then we can conclude that ARCE has simply ducked VIC.
Oh and for the Darchinyan fans...
Saturday, June 3rd - right before Castillo vs Corrales III
Vic Darchinyan -vs- Luis Maldonado
Showtime Championship Boxing - LIVE on Showtime - 9pm EST
Darchinyan is undefeated and has a very high K.O. percentage and other fighters is avoiding him like a plague.
Wow! That was a open and direct challenge to Arce. Arce is one of my favorite fighters and I sure want to hear what's going to be his reply on this. The last time I saw Arce is when he climb atop the ring and challenge Villoria to a match. Now here's the guy who wants him so forget Villoria at this point.
I spoke with Freddie Roach recently (who trains Villoria). He said there is no way he would throw Villoria in the ring against Vic and probably not even against Arce.
So hopefully we will see VIC -vs- ARCE by the end of this year.
Hey bro hes been avoiding Vic for a while now. Hell avoid VIc till Vics 40 and past his prime and this is when he will want to fight him. Its pathetic. Vic + Arce will be a great fight and trust me therell be lots of money in it. Viloria can wait. He has a lot of time ahead of him and doesnt need to jump to Arce this soon. On the other hand Vic is a great challenger. ARCE TAKE THIS FIGHT AND PROVE TO US WHAT UR MADE OF. Arce has never faced a slugger like Vic. Vic just throws bombs out over and over again. Right now we can say hes the number 1 flyweight out there since Arce isnt taking up the challenge. Until he does Vic will be on top of the division.
arce is not afraid of darchinyan, he's just following the money like floyd. but at the same time he is fighting worthy opponents, his next fight might be martin castillo who is very highly regarded. if the money and the time is right arce will fight him, he isn't scared of anybody. i would like to see him fight darchinyan and hope it happens sometime in the near future, though.
id like to see vic fight Wonjongkam and knock his ass out so the ring will look stupid for even thinking about having him top 10 p4p.
tell me about it man.
the WBC should mandate Wong Jong to fight a unification bout with another belt holder man. They keep throwin $hit fighters in front of him and call him the longest reigning champion in boxing. Thats just BS.
and the guy is 61-2 and has pretty much never fought a day out of Thailand. I just dont understand how a 61-2 fighter can defend a WBC title against someone that is 5-3
please look at Wong Jongs BoxRec and see if you can explain to me how that happens.

Every other flyweight is a biggg pu$$y when they are face to face with VIC, when they step away, they are big shots again.
and Googler, you forgot to mention WBO champ Narvaez in the group that will do anything to avoid VIC. Narvaez was supposed to fight Vic on June 3rd for a unification bout, but again he wasn't man enough and stepped down even after being offered the biggest payday of his life.
NUMBER 1 FLYWEIGHT IN THE WORLD - NO DOUBT - VIC DARCHINYAN
anyone wants to argue that, tell your challenger to step up to VIC or otherwise give us a good reason why he doesn't want to fight and win an IBF and/or IBO belt.
I know alot of you Arce fans dont like Vic and think he has a big mouth calling everyone out the way he does. I simply say Arce doesnt have the balls to fight VIC and will continue to make every excuse not to face him.
