right now i think that both Mayweather and Cotto would beat Hatton at Welterweight, Floyd by UD and Cotto by TKO, we know Ricky can take bombs upstairs but how about to the body
After watching Rickys last fight. How many of you think he can beat PBF? I dont.
Obviously Hatton has got a chance off beating Floyd he human after all :D .
Hattons style would really not suit Floyd and Hatton would all be about bullying Floyd around the ring which he could not really do vs a stronger southpaw like collazo who can also hang at 157 pretty gud i believe,
Lets give hattons respect for taking a stylish southpaw with a gud record who was a real champion at tht weight on as his first bout at 147, Collazos beat Rivera he ant no bum, every1 was taking collazo rele lightly mostly over their in the uk due to u not knowing who he was. can u remember who mayweather was facing when he first started moving up divisons trust me they was no COLLAZO :D :boxing:
From what Ive seen. I think Hatton and Gatti would be a damn good fight.
I always thought Gatti could take Hatton at 147 but was still a bit skeptical. I am no Gatti nuthugger and in fact like Hatton quite a bit. But after Hattons last performance I am positive that Gatti can take Hatton at 147. Hatton isn't the same here and Gatti looks fine at this weight. I would say he hits harder than Hatton here as well. I can even see Gatti getting the KO.
Believe it.
I just don't think he should smother him like he did Tszyu.
let's not forget where this fight took place as that was a huge factor.
all he would do after that is clinch. He did that over a dozen times..
true. he clinched at least close to a dozen times in many of the rounds.
i don't mind some clinching, providing it's tactical. hatton, though, would jump in with a punch or two and immediately clinch when he should've stepped back, pushed off, or boxed on the inside. so he was initiating most of the clinches.
in short, i don't think that he could beat mayweather. mayweather has at least as quick of a combo as collazo and seems to have a better ring IQ. pbf is a trickier fighter as well.
hatton has no chance. dont know if u guys remember, a great article came out a little while ago called "most overrated fighters" and it was about hatton and margarito. if u can find it i would suggest reading it again its pretty good.
Before Saturday I'd have given Hatton a 50/50 chance. Now - fuck all. He's not got a cat in hell's chance and I'm one of his biggest fans. I've been to see him live eleven times and met him personally, and so it really pains me to say it. If he's real impressive next time then fair play but on that showing he should avoid Floyd like he had AIDS that was contagious by touch...
At Welterweight, no he really doesn't have a great chance. He's too easy to hit when he tries to smother someone, and he knows he'd have to get inside on Floyd. The only problem is, he'd be absorbing a tremendous amount of clean punishment, and I don't think he'd be able to see in the later rounds.
His eyes swelled up really bad from getting hit by Collazo....and I'd say Floyd is a much harder, cleaner puncher. It's a really bad mismatch.
At Jr Welterweight....Hatton is quicker, and takes less time to get inside. He also throws more lead left hooks...and could make the fight interesting.
I think Hatton has a shot to make it close at Jr Welter....and perhaps win on one of the judges scorecards, and give people a chance to cry "robbery"
But not at Welter.
I actually think he has a better chance of beating PBF at WW than jrWW. Not that I think he would win either way. Hatton benefits more from going up in weight (power and ability to take a punch) than PBF does. PBF punches would have more power and pop at 140lbs than at 147lbs. Floyd had excellent power at 135 and less so at 140 and even less at 147lbs.
Hatton's team has even said as much. Hattons trainer has said that they would like to fight PBF at 147lbs and in that same interview they said that they wouldn't fight Cotto at 147lbs but would fight him at 140lbs.
