Larry Merchant said that Mayweather Sr is getting back at Floyd by telling DLH he won't train him against Mayweather. DLH won't fight Floyd Jr without Floyd Sr, so essentially, pops is screwing son out of a big payday. Or is this just a conflict in interest as to why Mayweather Sr refuses to be in DLH's corner against his son --> No revenge in mind by Mayweather Sr?
I'm just curious. It's hard to even guess for me.
Oscar has one or two more fights in him. That's evident. There is no messing with Floyd Sr's bankroll because he is DLH's trainer until he retires soon.
It's strictly personal I am starting to believe. Maybe he doesn't want to have a fighter of his lost to his son, the son that evicted his father from his home.
I personally think its a mixture of the two factors.
Larry Merchant remarked in the on camera before the Phillip N'Dou fight that it is very hard to find 2 Mayweathers who like each other. Apparently, all you have to do is look in the Floyd Mayweather Jr corner, where Uncle Roger and Floyd Jr seem to have a very close relationship. But as a result of the Judah debacle in Las Vegas, he is suspended for a year by the Nevada state commission. Being that De La Hoya, who has fought primarily out of Vegas in his career, will demand the bout take place in Sin City, a place where he has received some favorable decisions in recent years. This is one obstacle.
De La Hoya is the most marketable fighter not named Mike since Sugar Ray Leonard. If Floyd Sr keeps his word, he would be without the bank roll of The Golden Boy by his side. Floyd doesn't want to fuck his money up, so he doesn't want Oscar to fight him at all.
Floyd Mayweather Sr does hold alot of resentment towards his son for the terms in which they parted ways. They have not been all that close since Floyd Jr expelled his father from his corner many years ago. Floyd Sr probably would not reward his son with the megabout of his life as payback for their severring of ties in the beginning of Floyd's career.
But beneath that, I do think its a personal thing. Floyd Sr does care for his son and doesn't wish to compete against his son. The sport aside, he does not wish to go through the mind games and conflicts of interest that go with fighting in the opposite corner of his son.
Hahahhaha. SAY WHAT?
Mayweather Sr. does not want to go through having his fighter (DLH) lose to his son and fighter's opponent (Floyd Jr.) and Sr. does not want a fighter he trained to lose to a fighter his brother trained. Got me? :D

Maybe Floyd Sr. knows Oscar has what it takes to beat Floyd Jr. and is just protecting his son from a loss and a blow to his legacy.
Oscar is going to be bigger, stronger, and is a very smart fighter. If Oscar hits baby Floyd with that left hook, we could possibly see what it was like seeing Floyd Sr. watching baby Floyd sleep when he was a baby.
What does his age and hair of choice have to do with anything ?
There are older trainers then him.
He said he wouldn't feel right training someone to knock his kid out.
shit. umm i will give you a million points if you change your avatar.
in my opinion, it would be hard for a father to train somebody to beat up his kid...won't all fathers make that kinda decision?
i would understand if roger was training DLH and floyd sr. was with his son, then the fight could happen.
Sr. doesn't need to worry about Oscar knocking out Jr. His son is simply worlds smarter in the ring than either of them. Frankly the PBF we know now is totally different than he was when Mayweather Sr. was training him. He is much more agressive and efficient.
I read an interview Floyd Sr. did with boxing///talk a few weeks back and it said something to the effect of "I created my son's style, and I can pick it apart." It might just be to screw jr our of a big payday.

It's quite simple. Floyd Mayweather Sr. is overrated as a trainer and is a ridiculous person (he's in his 50's and has fucking dreadlocks). The simple truth is he doesn't want his son to whoop his fighter and he doesn't wanna lose to his brother. The man is a coward.
