As a Brit who has supported Hatton throughout his career the thing that struck me was how Hatton seemed a) a bit sluggish compared to normal b) seem to tire quicker than normal c) how his punches lacked effect. There are no excuses in this game, but that is how he looked compared to what I am used to seeing.
I was impressed by Collazo, he had fast hands and good movement. For what it is worth I had it for Hatton by 1 point - with a lot of close rounds. Hatton pressed forward, Collazo had cleaner punches - but I wouldn't argue the toss either way on the result and understand why others have it the other way. Given Hatton was the challenger away from home I was pleasantly surprised that he got the result on the scorecards in such a close fight.
A slick southpaw was a bad fight for Hatton to go for (remember Eamonn Magee dropping Hatton in the past??), I reckon his camp thought he would tear through Collazo, but his punches just didn't have the same effect as normal - he hardly got any of his usual body punches in and couldn't see Collazo's right hook all night, he is very lucky Collazo isn't a big puncher.
Hatton looked worried and was right to be, I think the truth is one of three options:
1) either Collazo is a lot better than I thought
2) or Hatton isn't right at welter yet and needs more time
3) or Hatton has some limitations against the very best at welter that will never be sorted with time
I'm glad he survived, he showed fantastic heart when things weren't going his way, but that fight ended up being a 50/50 toss of a coin, where the flash knockdown in the first came in very handy indeed.
Only Hatton knows the answers, he said he would give Collazo a rematch, but unless he can get much stronger at the weight and work out a way past Collazo's great defence then he should avoid that rematch like the plague.Good to see a new addition of such quality to this site's roster of members. Welcome! Gave you good Ks.
the only thing i liked about hatton in this fight were his trunks and his chin. not ready to pass judgement yet but for the record i think it would be comical how badly pbf would whip him.
Stop hating dickhead. What exposed are you talking about? That's what happen when you are hating. You lose your objective reasoning.
Don't you realize that that was HATTON's first fight in the division? Do you understand how it is to put up another 7 lbs and fight a bigger opponent? If you don't then shut the fuck up.
Of course he understands, he's Donald Hoskins, soon to be the greatest fighter that has ever been. If you'd taken the time to see his boxing video then you would soon see that his defensive skills, accurate punching and stamina are FAR superior to Ricky Hatton's.
I suggest you watch this masterclass in boxing and learn to appreciate Hoskins in all his glory. One day you'll be telling your grandkids "I knew Donald Hoskins when he first got his name 'The Greatest' and before he went on to change boxing as we know it and surpass Ali's legacy"

ALL BOW DOWN AT THE FEET OF THE GREATEST BOXER OF THE NEXT 15 YEARS...THE ONE AND ONLY DONALD HOSKINS
yea over rated..lol..hes undefeated so until he gets beat u need to shut your trap cause u havent got a clue what you r talking about....lol..by theway who won?
I do have to agree that he has been overrated by SOME, though. For example, a few posters who said Hatton will dominate mayweather on the inside and knock him out, and the posters who said he will be number 1 p4p and that sort of thing. Ricky still has alot to prove in my opinion, but i wouldnt say he is overrated by most boxing fans.
Just watch man we can debate all we want but only time will tell.... And Corrales name is only brought up against Hatton becuz his a household name around his divison the fact is at the current time they fight 2 class away from each other and a fight between them is forecasted down the line, but i think if corrales can beat castillo again the he'll be able to foght a competitive fight with Hatton, same for Castillo!(correlas will beat Cast)
dude i have to say either you r stupid or just hate hatton...which is it?...lol
Take a look at my SIG and tell me is it safe for it to bare what it says, also answer the question was/ and is Ricky Hatton overrated and exposed?

You probably need to step up out of here. You really have no place in a serious boxing forum posting garbage like this. Corrales has been permanently damaged by Castillo, and would be absolutely trashed by Hatton. Corrales is a bean-pole at 135. Hatton just beat a much bigger man in Collazo, who is a southpaw with respectable skill. If you have any confidence in Diego beating Hatton after what happened to Diego in his last fight, no one should listen to your betting advice.
Furthermore, you are using triangle theory, which has no place in boxing. Hatton struggling against Collazo does not mean he will struggle with Gatti. You need to have your head checked. Styles make fights, period. Hatton beating a fresh, in-his-prime Collazo by a close margin does not in any way fortel Hatton losing to an old, sluggish, and oh-so-hittable Thunder Gatti.

Lets hope he gets A good fight soon then...Do you consider Corrales/Castillo/Gatti/Cotto skilled???
After he beats one of them I'll bump this thread. I hope you keep your promise.
Ya thats acceptable with one exception he has to if he fights Gatti KO him by 8 to prove his not overrated!
and also i said convincingly so a 114-111 wont cout he has to win CONVINCINGLY! TKO, KO, UD
if Hatton defeats anyone of skill CONVINCINGLY ill leave this site forever!

Hatton fucked himself by actually gaining weight for this fight, he should have came in as he always does IMO and he would have retained the sharpness and the handspeed that wasn't there. But most of it IMO was that he was fighting a fairly slick southpaw, and he apparently has hell with southpaws lol
I don't think this means that he'll struggle with landing shots on every 147 lb. fighter he faces, but there are much harder punchers than Collazo in the division, he can't afford to get hit so cleanly against someone like Mayweather or Gatti. Personally, I'd like to see him fight Cotto or Gatti next.
I think the Gatti fight would be a great fight and be a tossup.
If he fights Cotto I see him being too much for Cotto but still an exciting fight. Or maybe Mitchell, that would be IMO a high risk fight that would truly be a test seeing as how he hates southpaws lol

That sentence is what people keep forgetting when having these discussions...
WHo said anything about him beating Castillo or Corrales, killing Gatti (ill give him Gatti MAYBE) or anhilating Cotto not with the performance he put up against Collazo, and 50/50 against PBF dude get the fuck outta here.

Saying that Hatton MIGHT be able to beat Gatti, Hatton would destroy Gatti, the only Reason Gatti would win would be because of his extreme heart and will. hatton would beat Gatti quicker and prettier then floyd did it, but Gatti is well past his prime now.
I dont doubt HATTON can beat GATTi but i wont write GATTI off becuz he was destroyed by THE BEST! HATTON has not shown me anything to say he would just destroy GATTI as PBF did! Watch the PBF fight again and see what i mean! haha no way would he out do PBF or ODLH for that matter hahaha! oh ya GATTI will beat BLAD
Talking about a Mayweather Hatton fight and saying Mayweather would school hatton is wrong. He would prolly win right now against an inexperienced 147er, but it would be a damn good and a damn close fight.
Man thats it right there people are saying 147 like its a damn new sport or some shit the guy has been a PRO BOXER for HOW LONG? fuck how long his been at 147 shit peepz have went from 147 to 160 and looked fabolous! and your telling me oh becuz he went up in weight he looks bad, fuck that if you lose weight OKAY, but going up in weight, TONEY< RJJ, and a grip of other have risen up in wieght and looked great what makes this guy any different, except he looked f*ckin horrible!
haha wow..... first he wasnt overrated before the fight becuz many of us didnt knwo what he could actually do!(ATleast i didnt) We have a good idea now!

A fight with either Castillo or Corrales would be 50/50, Gatti would lose, Cotto would put on a show making it a good fight, hahahaha and you dumb-ass PBF would KILL HIM!
And noone that i know of was on the Hatton BANDWAGON but liek myself seemed to feed into the hype that was, but after a performance like SAT thats all changed! And if Hatton defeats anyone of skill CONVINCINGLY ill leave this site forever!
And really, or atleast in my case i didnt think he had skills to begin with, but saw one of his fights (TSZYU)and becuz of the TKO of an OLD but highly ranked TSZYU feed into the HYPe!
The fact is HATTON is not what we THOUGHT, and he didnt do what we THOUGHT he would! Therefore in many peoples eyes, not just BS.com his fucking BALONEY BITCH!
I completely agreed with the guy ur were responding to, and u basically proved his point. hatton had a bad fight at 147, he could still beat all the greats at 140, if u dont think this, ur just stupid and furthing pushing the fact of how little u really know about boxing.
Hatton is an extremely dominant junior welterweight. I have him beating Cotto by KO, I have him beating Castillo by UD, i see him beating Carrales by KO, and i see him beating Gatti by TKO (prolly a trainer will come into the ring to stop the beating).
Talking about a Mayweather Hatton fight and saying Mayweather would school hatton is wrong. He would prolly win right now against an inexperienced 147er, but it would be a damn good and a damn close fight.
And like as i read ur post over again, im respecting u less and less. u just clearly have no idea what ur talking about.

U also said some bad things about the tszyu fight. What? are u retarded? this was another 140 fight i beleive and since he is INCREDIBLY good at junior welterweight, he was able to fight toe to toe with one of the best and win. Put him in the ring with any 147 fighter at 140, and hatton has one hell of a shot at winning. He's THAT good.
And do me a favor, never call someone a dumbass when they clearly have more knowledge of the sport then u do. He was right, ur dead wrong. u only watched his 147 fight, and he did bad. He was overweight and out of shape. At 140, there aint anybody that could dominate him. hell, there aint anybody that could beat him
