Luis Collazo is grossly underated, and it just shows you the achievement that Ricky Hatton pulled off.
I was really impressed with Luis, he didnt let Ricky fight his best fight, he hurt Ricky a couple of times and Ricky shrugged it off.
It was a war of attrition that Ricky won with his output and workrate. It was a close fight but Ricky gets it by my reckoning.
Respect to Ricky for a great achievement.
Luis collazo has plenty to offer boxing we have yet to see.
hahaha omg so collazo is underrated. I think you guys are stupid and ricky hatton is overrated he boxes like shit. collazo sucks. rickys only a step above him
and plus, as many potential fans as hatton didnt gain last night, he did gain a ton of new fans in the states. People love the aggressive style, especially the casual fan. Even if hatton had lost that fight, he would have gained a big fanbase in the states. Hes fun to watch, has an exciting and appealing style, and dominates a lower division. how much better could it get?
jose luis castillo would move to 140 to fight hatton. Hatton is the best 140 fighter. better then castillo even. that would be a great fight. I definetly see hatton winning, but not by much. Hatton isnt a great welterweight yet, but he has already proven himself as a junior welterweight on NUMEROUS occastions.
If collazo moved DOWN to fight hatton, it would have been an utter domination by hatton. Hatton owns at junior welterweight.
And GREATEST I AM, u basically just said that u dont waste ur time with fighters that arent good. do i smell a front runner? u only root for the best? Hatton is an extremely exciting fighter to watch, even at welterweight. I love his style and determination.
At junior welterweight however, ud love to watch him because he dominates the division. He'd school a 140 castillo or carrales. And since ur a frontrunner, ud love watching at that weight
and shutup here to. haha. wow u really know how to make people think u know what ur talking about by using words like "effectively" "intrigue" "bluepring" "exposed" and "discovered"
Just shutup. now we all know to never listen to u again.
Every single fighter in the world knew how to fight hatton. everyone of them. The problem is actually doing it. Collazo did a good job of keeping him at bay, but it was a Ricky Hatton that the world had never seen before.
A ricky Hatton whose punches were about 50% as effective as they were in any of his other fights.
A ricky Hatton that couldnt get inside using the right cross like he did against tszyu.
A Ricky Hatton that didnt contain the ferociousness and savage rage that the normal Hatton has.
A Ricky Hatton who through his best punch, the left hook to the body, maybe 50 times during the fight, and landed it maybe 25 times. A WEAK showing by Hatton, but he STILL WON.
And i garuntee that any true fan of the sport is willing to give hatton another chance. any fan of the sport says this was hattons first fight at 147, he did bad, he'll prove himself next time.
And im also willing to bet, that every boxing fan out there STILL wants a Hatton Mayweather fight.
And whoever said that Collazo was supposed to be an easy win for Hatton is an idiot. Hatton is known for only taking the fights that challenge him best. Hence him jumping up 7 pounds, and taking on a southpaw that was quick and effective on the outside.
Just shutup, GREATESTIAM, and get outta these forumns. nobody wants to hear it anymore
Haha im sure people rather listen to me then you... And for last nights fight being in all estimations Hattons biggest fight yet (moving to welter and fighting for a title) he didnt impress and its that simple, if he went out there and appealed to the AMERICAN public like say a Joe Calzaghe did.... Then this thread would be non-existent, but see thats not what happen and therefore, in my eyes and ALOT OF OTHERS Hatton is very beatable, and i know i wont personally waste my time being a fan of a OVERHYPED CHAMPION that I GUARENTEE WILL LOSE 1 of his next 3 fights, if they are against the TOP GUYS such as: Floyd, Antonio, or JLC!
my point was that he doesn't do it enough: it is one thing to do it once in "blue moon" ;) , but to not have this as a normal reaction/part of your style is a fustrating to watch as a viewer...the guy is a dam top fighter, yet he still has amatuer flaws...imagine if he corrected this?
I just mentioned that too, that Ricky really needs to work on his defense, to block punches, move his head, and roll with the punch...he has a great chin, something that he should be lucky to have, but it isn't illegal to protect that chin once in a while ;)
I also don't understand why he doesn't use more straight punches, or even move from side to side throwing those combos...the guy has great stamina, moving around the way that Acelino Freitas did against Chico, wouldn't be a bad thing; it is not like he has to keep doing this throughout the fight, just when needed.
I agree 100%. I think he moves his head great though. He dodged some pretty big punches, even after he got nailed with a huge left hand. He knows when and how to duck.
And yea, hatton is outstanding at taking punches, and almost immiatly recovering. He could turn this into an offense by letting his hands go every time someone lands an okay punch. They'll think hes hurt and go in for the kill, and since he isnt really hurt, he could land some nice combos
great observation, Hatton only lost rounds cause he got hit. All he needs to improve on is not getting hit and he will be better. Great obsevations from a boxing guru.
... got hit while jumping on the inside. If u DIDNT notice this u dont know boxing. And YOU DONT KNOW BOXING souza. Collazo would have lost every single round, and would have been KOed for sure if Hatton protected his face. Not once did hatton put on the earmuffs and protect his face. but wait, what happened, he STILL won the fight. hahaha. WHen hatton learns to cover up, and jump on the inside with an arm up for protection, he could go toe to toe with the best of them.
Yea, but its a problem with every single fighter that moves up. Mayweather had a problem with mitchell for example. Maybe not as big but he was still a problem. hatton struggled because he didnt judge the weight difference right. He was looking around collazo when he should have been looking through him. It doesnt really show off their weaknesses, it just shows what they need to improve on.
hatton needs to improve his face protection, and getting on the inside without getting hit. Those are the only reasons hatton lost rounds. if he protects his face and jumps inside while protecting his face with his left, and throwing with his right, hatton will quickly become unstoppable. hatton reviews tape like crazy, so him and his trainers WILL notice this and WILL improve on this. Expect him to be the underdog in his next fight because of this fight, and pull out a dramatic underdog win by Ko

kfootball- enough with your Hatton dik sukin already. Go to Hatton website if he is all you wanna talk about.
Get over is Souza, ur boy collazo lost fair and square. Stop suckin COLLAZOS dick, and just admit to his defeat. Any true fan knows when their fighter lost, so u definetly know that collazo lost. Enough with YOUR hatton hating and shovin everyone around. how bout u just leave all forumns altogether asshole.
How about we make a deal.
u stop bad mouthing hatton, and ill stop praising him (even though he deserves it.) DEAL?

Don't you think it has anything to do with the fact that when fighters step up the competition, fights are just harder, making the fighter show his weaknesses?

No one was destroyed in the fight, but someone was exposed and another guy was discovered, Collazo wrote a blue print on how to fight Hatton effectivley, and if followed Hatton will get DESTROYED.... And Floyd is my boy but PBF v Collazo would intrigue more then a HATTON FIGHT!

Still not bad for a guy moving up to fight a "natural" 147lb fighter, but he did show he wasn't strong in those later rounds when normally he is over powering his opponents...maybe it will take time for him to grow into 147, but I don't know, judging by his frame, he is more suited for 140.
The blue print:
Use your lead hand to throw hook(s) as he is coming in...use lateral movement/keep your distance; don't allow him to fight on the inside where he can clinch and hit, trying to wear you down; if on the inside, I suggest using uppercuts...stick the jab in his face, why nobody is using this great punch, I don't understand.
What I noticed from Collazo was that even if he didn't move around, when Ricky was in close with him, sometimes Collazo was able to keep his own legs far apart, where his back hand {left}, was free from the clinch, and he would load up that punch and nail Ricky.
All you really have to do is stick and move...hit him before he hits you, and avoid letting him in close, though this wasn't to much trouble if you are the bigger fighter. I really believe the only reason he was able to wear down Tszyu was because of his inactivity, and his struggling with his weight/drained.
The way Collazo fought , he brought out the best in Hatton and to many spectators suprise his best wasnt what it was cracked up to be!
Brought out the best? what are u fucking kidding me? hatton was not himself. He fought his fight in the first round, and that was it. He had the worst fight he has ever had as a pro against collazo, idc what anyone says.
I even think hatton hurt his left hand in the first round, ,cause he hardly through it after that. If u call that hattons best, then thats the only hatton fight u have ever seen.
Jeez, talk about someone not knowing anything about the sport.
And take that sig away. damn. He is not overrated at all. He is still UNDERRATED here in the states, because everyone hates him now. that was a very bad fight for hatton, HIS WORST PERFOMANCE AS A PRO, and he STILL WON!!! haha. thats saying more of how bad collazo is then how overrated Hatton is.
And for the millionth time, this was hattons FIRST EVER WELTERWEIGHT FIGHT. HE would struggle against almost any southpaw welterweight, especially a skilled one like collazo. Put him in the ring with collazo again, and collazo gets KOed in the 4th round. im willing to bet my life on it.
When hatton grows into this weight class, readjusts his style and fights like he fought against Kostya tszyu, Hatton will be thought of as one of Mayweathers only true threats.
It pisses me off when people like u come in here, showing off the fact that u have zero knowledge of sport, and calling the king of the junior welterweight division overrated. Ur a dumass, accept that. hatton will grow into the welterweight division, and ur gonna wish u never said stuff like this. I gonna copy paste it now so in 5 months, when hattons kills his next opponent, i can rub it in ur face.
What was the blue-print?
The way Collazo fought , he brought out the best in Hatton and to many spectators suprise his best wasnt what it was cracked up to be!
he did good in 1 match. i say if he defined the odds in 2 more fights in a big way they yeah he's underrated. but damn ya'll make it seem like he detroyed tyson or mayweather and shit.ahahaha
No one was destroyed in the fight, but someone was exposed and another guy was discovered, Collazo wrote a blue print on how to fight Hatton effectivley, and if followed Hatton will get DESTROYED.... And Floyd is my boy but PBF v Collazo would intrigue more then a HATTON FIGHT!
bullshit. He did what any fighter would do that got screwed out of a win, he plainly pointed out what was what. He should have won that fight, by a pt or two atleast. And, the ref. did do a poor job, and Ricky did fight dirty and hold like an octopus all night long...all the things that collazo said were true. Cant believe you'd claim he has no class when he was merely laying out the facts, and in a respectful manner too. He was the champ going into the fight, and Ricky just didnt do enough to take his title away; collazo knew that and said so....thats not whining.
I'm sure collazo is usually full of class. He doesnt seem like a classless asshole. But even if u think u won that fight with all ur heart, u DO NOT say that u won in a interview right after the fight. Even if u do it in a respectful manner. Its desrespectful to the opponent.
Im sure he didnt mean to disrespect hatton, but what he did was classless, no doubt. If he had as much class as hatton, who straight out admited that Collazo had him hurt several times, he would have admited that hatton is a great fighter and what not. Then, AFTERWARD with an interview from ESPN or something, u say that u though u won the fight.
understand? no disrespect to collazo, and im sure he didnt mean to harm anyone, but what he did was classless
