Who do you think would win it. From the looks of it yesterday it seems that Ricky Hatton does not have what it takes at 147. Luis Collazo is not known as a big puncher at welterweight with only 12 knockouts. Strong guys like Margarito and Delahoya would murder him. I also think that Gatti would give Hatton a lot of problems. The big problem being he will stay in there and trade, i do not think Hatton can take Gatti's punching.
ward was more resiliant
bum? ward was far from a bum, you need to learn your craft.
Yeah thats what I thought! Ward fought at world level for most of his career. Thats why he's got a lot of losses on his record! Even Hatton would use some finesse and boxing skill against Ward! :boxing: :boxing:
Why all the ballyhoo. Hatton IMO has only beaten one world class opponent, who now by his own admission is not really into it anymore, that being Tsyzu. I don't want to hurt feelings but you can count all the world class fighters that have come out of England and not use all ten fingers. Hatton is a very pleasing guy to watch at 140, but looked dreadful at 147. There are plenty of name opponents at 140, why not stay there. The name of the game is money, he has to be shooting for a big payday. Oscar, PBF or some other big draw. Just my opinion.
Ricks just should not fight southpaws period especially not at Welterweight but Ricky should be fighting people who moved up to, like Gatti and PBF or move back down for Cotto. Margarito and De la Hoya would probably stop him, Im a Hatton fan but that 12th round shocked the shit out of me, if a

I would still say Gatti hits harder than Hatton and is probably even a faster puncher
If they fought, expect Buddy to tell Gatti to stick and move, which is a great strategy since we know Hatton can be outboxed from the outside, especially since he has a small arm reach...this strategy will work for Arturo up until he breaks his hand again, then we will probably see him in a War again :D
Gatti is not A level though, he got his ass kicked in by Oscar...though Gatti wasn't prepared right {still in his party days}, I doubt it would of mattered
Yeah dude he lost to Oscar, but Oscar is a much larger fighter overall than Gatti or Hatton, Oscar had a reach advantage on Gatti bigtime I think even Gatti may have a reach advantage on Hatton lol
I don't think Gatti was ever a world beater but I don't think he's shot either. I think he would have an excellent chance against Hatton.
gatti's power is the most overrated today
hatton by KO

took the words rite out of my mouth, but didnt see the point of telling a useless poster what the real deal was.

You haven't seen Hatton brawl or box? man, have you not seen Ricky fight? Hatton is way above Gatti. I'm not saying it would be an easy fight but Ricky wouldn't lose it. Watch more of Hatton and i'm sure you'll agree with me..i've seen plenty of Gatti and Hatton is leagues ahead of him
I've seen some of his fights, though not close to all of them.
I think if memory serves, the fight against Ben Tackie was the one where he appeared to come closest to a boxing style of the fights that I've seen, but even in that fight he didn't really use a jab, and he still came in head first. Of the things that Hatton does, probably the most impressive IMO are his body attack, (he's a great body puncher) and his stamina which seems to be on the level of Kassim Ouma or Juan Diaz. But given both of their styles (the style that Gatti doesn't use much anymore) I can't see giving Hatton a clear cut edge when they're both very hittable fighters, and Hatton was badly stunned in the last round of his last fight against a fighter not known for his power. Maybe I'm missing something who knows...
Hatton by KO in the mid to late rounds. Hatton's bodywork is the key to this fight. Gatti is suseptible to body shots (see Mayweather and Ward fights). Hatton would wear him down and stop him.
Because some of us aren't in England, the same could be said for those who think that Hatton would walk through Gatti, not gonna happen. I'm not saying Hatton couldn't win, but Gatti's still just as big, just as strong, and hits at least just as hard as Ricky does. They both cut, and Ricky has no defense and no jab, so I don't get where Ricky is leagues above Gatti. We've seen that even though Gatti is no great stylist, he can brawl or box.
I haven't seen that from Hatton. I say it's a very even matchup that could go either way, alot of people just think Gatti looks worse because he's not trying to slug it out every time anymore.

I see, Hatton couldn't KO Collazo but he's going to KO a 165 lb.
Gatti, and not be KO'd himself even though he's the more hittable fighter, hmmm....
Can't think why some of you guys think Gatti would beat Hatton

Hatton has a better workrate than Ward....Mickey's punches ae more like slaps, there is no way Gatti can take Hatton's arsenal of body blows and headshots including the holding.
He'll destroy Gatti
Are you serious "slaps"? Ward's left hook to the body is as vicious as it can get dude, cmon, if ward had something it was that hook to the body.
Agree totally in parts with ppls statements, Hattons got some balls for taking a fighter like Collazo as his first fight after moving up a weight collazo can even move upto 157 pretty gud also he a stylish southpaw who was a real champion at tht weight alot off ppl forget tht u don't beat a boxer like rivera without being pretty gud,
i can remember they type off fighters mayweather faced as his first opponent moving up in weights over the years they where no Collazo ill tell u tht,
PBF took on Jose Luis Castillo in his first fight moving up to lightweight, I would say that is a bigger, harder fighter to face than Hatton had stepping up.
PBF fought Demarcus Corley as his first jr welter fight. No slouch either.
PBF fought Sharmba Mitchel in his first welter fight.
I would say overall PBF has had better competition when stepping up than Hatton. Although your right Hatton didn't chose an easy fighter and should get some props for taking on a fighter who his camp knew he wouldn't look good against.

Can't think why some of you guys think Gatti would beat Hatton, it's laughable. Gatti isn't in Hattons league, Ricky would destroy him and to say otherwise is just stupid
I think Hatton would take it but you can't count Gatti and his heart out. I don't know what he could do to Hatton though. What would you say are Gatti's strong points besides his heart and ability to take a beating? He does have some thunder left in the fists so you never know. I would love to see him upset Hatton.
