He has built up a pretty good resume...it is not his fault the HW's aren't that great...but he has fought a good portion on the names
Legitimate contenders?
James Toney:
Iran Barkley
Vasiliy Jirov
Michael Nunn
Evander Holyfield
Mike McCallum
Reggie Johnson
Dominick Guinn
Hey, he is a contender.
Evander Holyfield :D
Hey, if you wanna get technical, WTF? 2 wins over Tyson, Qawi, Bowe. I dunno, but he is fighting on the Jones undercard soon. Not a contender, but still has the best resume.
And what about Larry Donald then? :p
Evander Holyfield :D
Hey, if you wanna get technical, WTF? 2 wins over Tyson, Qawi, Bowe. I dunno, but he is fighting on the Jones undercard soon. Not a contender, but still has the best resume.
...and then there's Riddick Bowe to throw into the mix, since he hasn't made a retirement announcement either, has he?
he did like 2 weeks ago.. but who knows if it's 4 sure
Those numbers don't mean a whole lot though. You're giving Wladimir too much credit for wins over an undefeated Eliseo Castillo and a 29-2 Fabio Moli????????
Guys like Glen Johnson or Jose Luis Castillo (obviously outside the heavyweight division) show that picking up some 'L's along the way doesn't make you a lesser fighter necessarily.
I'm sure you don't think the must-see fight in the division is Valuev vs. Brock or Ibragimov...
Don King just signed up a 15-0 heavyweight, put him in the ring against DaVarryl Williamson, and TOS KO'd him in 4. You can schedule a record. That being said, I still rank Wlad as the best or one of the best resumes - but it's not because of win-loss percentages - it's because in addition to his big fights against Chris Byrd, Brewster who went on to defend a few times, prospect Peter and veteran Ray Mercer - he's got guys like Monte Barrett, Jameel McCline, and Axel Schulz on his record from years back - and W's over all of those guys...
the point of my post was not that wlad has the best resume because of the record of his opponents.
the point was to show how much more consistently he has fought top level competition than any of the other fighters.
beating all the guys wlad has beaten makes a more impressive resume than hasim rahman who beat lennox lewis and nobody else. even if lewis is better than anyone wlad has ever fought,
Klitschko, Golota, Krasniqi, Meehan, ...
lol,,I cant beleive you even have the nerve to put meehan in there who was bombed out in 1 round by danny williams and taken apart by rahman,,not to mention it was a very close fight with brewster and many thought meehan should have got the win,,lol. and golota? please...hes never even beaten a top 10 guy and was knocked out or quit in fights how many times?
lol - Golota has lost to some of the best names in the division. A heavyweight Chop Chop Corley...(smilie)
hell yeah he's fought every top hv in his time other then holyfield & foreman
golota nor meehan were even top 20 fighters at the time brewster fought them. and youre listing them as his best victories. i think you just ruined your own argument
Andrew drew with Byrd and gave Ruiz a very good fight.
