Just said on Sky Sports that HBO are lining this up next for Ricky should he beat Collazo.
Not seen much of this guy but has a very good record, beating de la hoya twice, vargas, estrada. Only lost on decisions to Forrest x2, winky x2. Seems like a big step up, surely he is naturally quite bigger aswell?
What's he like, how would you see it going?
As a Mosley fan, given the first round and how Shane did, one of my all-time biggest what if's is what would have happened had he not been butted. Given that Mosley lost to him in the amateurs and a rematch-probably no difference in result but there is a shred of doubt
Um i can't see Mosely winning this fight. He barley throws in combinations...and Vargas is a punching bag now and at the time of the stoppage Mosley was ahead by a point. Hatton my wide UD are late rd stoppage
Are you out of your mind...I know Shane is old, Hatton likes fighting fighters that are past their prime and old, but Shane has never been knocked out and he has faced much harder punchers than what Ricky can dish out...now I know accumaltion of punches can do the job, especially fighting an older fighter, but it is still Shane Mosely, he is at least an active past his prime mid 30's fighter ;)
The only time Shane has been hurt was in the first Forrest fight, and notice the headbutt came first that seemed to shake Shane up, never seeming to get his balance back; lets not forget that Forrest punches very hard and he caught Shane clean throughout the fight and still couldn't finish him.
As soon as Ricky is as big a draw as Floyd (i.e. after he K.O.'s Floyd), then he will fight all-comers....at the moment he is building his popularity, making the fight into a superfight.
Hatton is a body puncher, so is Shane which even more makes it an interesting fight. I can't see Shane losing by stoppage seeing how he's not been stopped in his life and has rarely touched canvas. IF Hatton's people are afraid of a Mayweather fight for now, I can't see them taking a Shane fight. I think they want to cash in his undefeated record against Mayweather and have him fight safer fights like Gatti or Castillo/Corrales or Cotto instead. Fighting Shane Mosley would be great for the fans but iffy if you are Ricky's manager. Shane certainly would take the fight
basically you summed up your knowledge on ricky hatton. please watch more of his fight b4 you chat shit. thanks
If you think he chats shit, you should see how bad he boxes. He looks like a retard on speed clearing snow off a table...very amusing.
thats it! if hatton wins i dont wanna fucking hear it ! ...this guy is for real! he fights people he unified the junior welterweight division with a win agianst a living legend and agianst a grade b- c+ opponet at that rightfully so! he still unified now hes up to welter takeing on the wba champ right off the bat
if he beats this guy and beats mosley then what! whats next for him surely the disrespect will have to stop
that's the whole point if he wants respect he has to beat someone. him beating tzyu wasn't that big for me, tzyu was off for a while before that fight. what i'm saying is hatton is good but some people build him up as he is great and he's not there yet, and i don't think he could handle mosley
I do think he is lucky to come in now, instead of 5+ years ago:
Shane, Oscar, Forrest, Trinidad, etc. all had a good chance of beating him, and probably still do.
You are a tool. The Light Welter/Welter divisions aren't quite as good as they were then, but now they are still the most talent-filled divisions in the whole of boxing.
If we use that rationale, then then following people are also 'lucky': Cotto, Mayweather, Margarito, Judah, Harris, Baldomir...
If this is true its a BIG MISTAKE for HATTON, Ive only seen one of his fights, TZSYU and was unimpressed, going into the 8th he was down like 75-77, and his style was horribley boring pressing forward clinching or throwing, throwing or clinching! I personally think Sugar Shane is gonna put him down, if this fight does occur, becuz Shane is faster, the better boxer and at times can be physicaly! ID PERSONALLY LIKE TO SEE HATTONS !ST LOSE COME TO PBF, BUT OH WELL GO GET HIM SUGAR!
Hatton only held like this in one fight and that was because he was fighting Kostya Tszyu...think about it, if you were fighting a guy that is known for his heavy hands, that has knockout power when his arms are fully extended, has been inactive/hasn't fought a real fight in 3 years, 35 years old, had trouble making weight, etc. wouldn't you do the same?
If you look back at his other fights, he uses pressure only, no grappling.
Well if Hatton beat Shane Mosley he would deserve a ton of creidt but I don't see it. Both guys stadn in front so it'd be a good brawl. I guess this fight actually makes a lot of sense and would do huge PPV numbers. I do feel that if Shane can stand in with a very strong guy like Vargas at 154, then Hatton's pressure wouldn't really botehr him. ONly way he'd lose is if he did somethign dumb like go to England
If he beats Hatton then that will be a step in that direction, he beat an aging fighter and if he is as good as they say then he should beat Collazo. I'll say he's good but I'm not calling him great until he fights some "A" fighters and not on the decline. Mosley is an exception because he might be able to beat Hatton.

no it woln't because people will say colazo is a bumb and mosley is old and way past it, which he is a bit now and will be especially by the time they fight because mosley will be 35 or 36 since he's fighting vargas in july.

I'm not so sure that Mosley would be the bigger guy here. It seems to me that Hatton is naturally bigger than Mosley. Mosley started at 130lbs and has slowly filled into the higher weights but lost a lot of the power he showed in the lighter weights.
It would be interesting in styles also. Mosley might be a good matchup stylisticly for Hatton. Mosley likes to get into that semi-medium range and flurry and back away....Mosley was never really a boxer more of a flurry guy back up, flurry back up.
I dont see him getting the room he needs to do that versus Hatton, that along with Hattons pace which is tough for an even prime fighter might be enough to crack Mosley's shell.
Mosley has shown a great chin though and does have some decent power but IMHO not enough power and not elusive enough to defeat Hatton.
anybody who beats fernando vargas shouldnt have much trouble with ricky hatton
