Ricardo Mayorga didn't seem to have the fire or the ferociousness that he had against Forrest and even Trinidad. Was he at the end of his prime against Forrest? Due to his style of fighting, has he taken too much damage? and is he finished as a figher? I hope not.
Tito may have ruined Mayorga as a fighter.Like he did to David Reid and Fernando Vargas.
i wish david reid would come back now that guy was impressive, too young and not enough experience as a fighter going against someone like Tito was a mistake on his managements part because they lost a great fighter after that.
Of course Mayorga isn't finished yet. There is always room for someone with his personality and his power/brawling style on a boxing card. This was the second fight he headlined a PPV on, and those 2 were because of his opponent. But can he continue fighting and drawing fans? Of course. There's a number of opponents out there that he could have in-demand fights that would main event a Showtime or HBO card...
I think the only big fight left for Mayorga is Fernando Vargas at 154. I could definitely see Vargas taking this fight if he loses again to Mosley. This would be a great promotion and a great fight between two guys who are clearly past their prime but are aggressive power punchers. All the Post Traumatic Tito Syndrome would do is slow down the action a bit, but there would still be TONS of action.
If you load up the undercard, you could get 400,000 buys with Vargas' broad appeal. This fight was on the path to getting made until Vargas signed to fight Mosley last fall.
mayo just got exposed big time. he can still fight no doubt and can draw some fights but the next time he blabbermouths no one will take him seriously. he could eat more live chickens but people wouldnt buy him this time. win 2 more fights earn retirement money and go back to managua.
He has 1 more fight left. Against Arturo Gatti! That would be something! Heart vs Heart. Power vs power. You can say Gatti has been through so many wars, though I think the amount of punches Mayorga has taken between Tito and Oscar can add up to the entire amount of punches Gatti has taken. At least Gatti attempts to show defense :D
You beat me to it.
If Mayorga had half the skill as he has balls he would be a contender. You cant knock his heart, but I think the elite are just too good for him.
And the cigs are to bad. He looked horrible. He looked as if he was in good shape, but his balance and foot work were horrible. He had no defense, and threw almost no effective punches. DLH walked all over him. But he does have heart. I wish I could see him in a slug fest with Gatti.

i dont' think we'll ever see him at welter again, i could be wrong but i doubt it"i weigh 172 pounds" lol
theres no shame in losing to tito and dlh, i mean c'mon these are future hall of famers for sure
i was overlly surprised he went down early against dlh, i mean weren't you guys? in the first round?
hes gotten a lil cocky though, i dont' think he thought dlh could hit that hard, i didn't either
i would love to see a match up between him and vargas though, if both of them can pick up some belts, cause mayorga is a lil slower and not as strong as 154 and i think vargas has slowed a little, enough to make this a very interesting match
i don't think mayorga is shot but won't be long until we find out
Ricardo Mayorga isn't finished, I think he simply lost the fire. He was buying into alot of the hype about him being invincible, only to find out in brutal fashion his mortality. He was never a good fighter at 154, he didn't at all seem in shape and was not a big puncher. His hands were much slower, his overall activity diminished, and his tolerance for power shots lessened.
Against Tito and Oscar, WTF do you want? The only guys who beat these guys were Winky Wright, Bernard Hopkins and Sugar Shane Mosley. Ricardo Mayorga is nowhere near this level of competition. Mayorga in my mind had no chance in hell against either of these guys. We may wind up finding similar conclusions of Margarito, remember where you heard it.
Mayorga has taken alot of punishment in his career, and may never show the same fire power he did against Forrest. I think its a combination of the beatings, the success getting to his head, and that training camp is too taxing for him. If he decides to rededicate himself again, I'd give him a good shot against Margarito and Gatti. Thats if he ever fights again.
he might be able it wasnt to long ago he was eating pizza and chicken on the scale, there are much better matchups for him at welter, if he can make it he should try, if he cant then stay
