Who takes this fight and why.
It's obvious there are those who favor this being a mismatch, and I'd like to hear why Larios really stands no chance of winning the fight. I've already made the case that he's a volume puncher moving up in weight, and Manny is a beast at his current weight. But remember there was a time when Pacquiao was slighted in build compared to how he is now.
Thoughts?

I still say this is a pickem fight. Depends how well Larios can survive the opening rounds where Manny is most dangerous. I don't think Manny will come prepared well enough to go the full 12 rounds at the Morales pace. He's going to want to get Larios out of there fast because he doesn't see much of him. Larios on the other hand is going to want to get Manny into the later rounds where I think Manny will weaken greatly from his lack of training or commitment to the fight. So if Manny does what he does best in the opening rounds, I'd pick Manny by around 4-5th round KO. Otherwise I'm going with Larios if it goes the distance. The man doesn't stop throwing huge volumns of punches, has a great jab that he'll no doubt use, and has the reach/height advantages. It's Morales all over again except I dont't think Manny is treating it like that. Forget there is gonna be a rematch with Marquez, Barrera, or Morales, I would say this is the next best Mexican fighter Manny could go for in his quest for greatness. Though I meant that more so at 126lbs than 130lbs.
Manny throws way too many hard punches for Larios to accept.
This fight will come down to one thing....and one thing only. And that's Manny's conditioning.
If he's in shape....he should make work of Larios with nonstop right, left, right, left, right, left.
But if he's not in shape....Larios could make him pay in the later rounds.
i couldn't agree more with you. manny shouldn't handle larios lightly (w/c i guess he would coz there's alot of distractions for him).
but IMO, pac on a 8th round stoppage. beyond this, ball could roll to larios if he lands more shots than pac.
RWK your sounding more and more like a PACMAN FAN ...
a fight with MAB is still Manny's priority ... IT HAS EVERYTHING, for the gold (i.e dineros), for the 2 championship belt and to cement the claim of being the best 130 pounder on the planet ...
and EM is still dangerous and WE would be foolish to take him away in the equation ...
I agree with you about conditioning factor, if PAC goes as poorly conditioned like when he fought Fahsan 3K ... it will be a long night ... IMHO his conditioning should be at LEAST the same LEVEL as the velasquez fight ...
If I am not mistaken, Pacquiao is suppose to fight Barrera again; Is it true? If this is true, than Manny can not afford to lose to Larios. I don't think the "pinoy" boxer is coming so unprepared.
I want to see another Pacquiao/Barrera because the mexican is fighting totally different now.
What do you think?
Yeah, he's fighting different but that's not going to make a difference in a rematch with Pacquiao.
I've lost faith in the idea that he can beat him, because the only way to beat Manny is to fight his own fight. He won't be able to go toe to toe because he gets frustrated, and has a hard time seeing the straight left hand....with the right hand extended.
If you watched the heavyweight matchup between Wladimir Klitschko and Chris Byrd...and you listened to what Emmanuel Steward said about Wladimir's gameplan....you'd notice it was the same thing, but from the orthodox position.
Pacquiao throws right, left, right right, left, right right right and it's way too difficult for Barrera to defend.
That fight in prospect...once again comes down to Pacquiao's conditioning...much like the fight in discussion does.
If he showed up in shape, he knocks Barrera out again. If he doesn't train hard, then a possibility for upset is always in the cards, yet slim chance at best.

blocking is for pussies any way you cut it. if you can't handle a difference of opinion, you are a bitch. plain and simple.
Blap!! You know this is real, we know the deal.
As for predictions... Pacs overwhelming amount of power punches will be just too much. He is also fighting in his back garden, at a weight class he seems unstoppable at.
Pac TKO round 4

I just blocked out the usual rabid pacfans that terrorize this board on a regular basis. I'm 100% positive some of them will resort to making new account names in order to post in this thread, when someone makes a case for Larios standing a chance.
Great!! I hope more site admins do like you did...
Those pac-fanatics are terrorizing other boards also..
here's the official name of the fight : :D

I am almost tempted to say Pacman will play this one similarly the way he did in his last fight with Erik. But two crucial factors makes me think otherwise:
1) He knows how dangerous Chololo is, and he is aware that Larios has all the world to gain if he beats Pacman
and
2) Manny is fighting in Manila, in his beloved Philippines, in front of his millions of followers. He cannot afford a poor showing
That said, I don't think Manny will take the chance of this fight going the distance. And as I see Larios trying early to get a K.O. win, he will pay the price of engaging Pacman in an all-out slugfest.
My prediction ? Pacman by KO within 5 rounds.
