yeah i know a little late to talk about it but did u guys ever see a decent punch besides a weak jab from rahman, land on toney? i think tony should have won the fight hands down. Kinda stupid. Oh well toneys times at heavyweight will be over if he fights wlad
Give Toney a break. I heard he was really really sick. He had IV treatment right into the hospital. He was up in weight because he couldn't cut get going in the last week of camp and couldn't cut any weight before the fight.
He couldn't even talk. When did you ever see Toney reject a chance to talk on the mic and after Rahman he hardly said anything.
Plus Toney said he was going to stand infront of Rahman and he did.
Rahman promised he knock Toney out.
Rahman I think landed a decent right in the first round and that was about the extent of the fight. It was all pitter-pat nonsense from there on out. Toney stumbling his fatass all over the ring missing and gasping for air, and Rahman shortening his punches and tapping Toney with them.
It was really a pathetic exhibition and probably the lowest point for the WBC title in a long, long time. Rahman clearly won the fight, but unimpressively. The draw was his own fault because he could have fought harder. Toney was tapped out, that seemed to be his highest gear that night and he'd have a heart attack if he went any harder, but Rahman definitley did not leave it all in the ring. Yeah, he retains the title but now according to the WBC ruling we have to see that embarassment again? Toney earning a guaranteed rematch with that performance? They love their sanctioning fees, I'll tell ya.
The Fight was awful true, but over the 12 rounds yall know Rahman deserved it he outworkd toney all nite, maybe if toney had training 120% for the fight and give a lil effort in tht match we might be not avin this topic,
(these European FIGHTERs gonna KNOCK RAHMAN the fuck out soon tho!)
Not....... The fact is TONEY is going to become HW champ before he fights WLAD and by that time hell be pushing 39 but will be in great shape... Ive heard recently that his already lost close to 8 pounds and his not even training, and that the reason he was so big (NOT OUTTA SHAPE) but BIGGER was to have a little padding and more power for the fight, but with all the critsicm he recieved look for him to be in GREAT shape his next fight
lol,,I heard he lost weight from being in the hospital,,thanlks to all the body shots from rahman
i thought toney landed alot of good rights and enough punches over all to push for a draw...
anytime you get a guy that out works a guy and another guy that throws a ton of shots but misses a load its always a draw

** Geez, go find another sport, like throwing darts on the side of a barn. Rahman landed many right hands and left hooks and James Titties looked like a club fighter on Zoloft. He's not only fat, he's shot and punch drunk just like you.

they both looked like shit,,but rahman out worked him
Couldn't disagree more with your opinion of who won...and I'll take it one step further. I think Rock carried him....I think the draw was pre-determined. Rock didn't commit any power shots of note to Toney. Those inside shots were more often than not patty cake punches. Toney was nailing Rock; but Toney has no heavyweight power. Also, anytime a fighter starts making excuses for his opponent after a fight is scored a draw...and starts talking about a rematch that shouldn't be necessary...I get suspicious. Rock won that fight IMO....why did he start making excuses for Toney's lack of conditioning? Isn't that Toney's job? And, furthermore, as out of shape as Toney was, why didn't Rock press him more? And instead of being upset by the draw...he starts off with "Well, something must have happened in Toney's training camp...I'm sure he'll do better next time."...or something to that effect.
Rock was bankrupt before the fight and he's talking about a rematch. Hmmmmmm. It stinks, if you ask me. Anytime a well condidtionede 238 Lb hard punching heavyweight can't knock out a ill-prepared fat middleweight...something's wrong.
After that fight, a rematch with Toney might have made some sense. But know with Klitscho calling for unification, Rahman and his promoters are in a much more favorable position to make alot of money with a unification bout while giving the fans what they want. Besides, James Toney does not deserve another title shot until he beats a top ten heavyweight in excitable fashion.
