Hatton-Castillo

Ok, this was lightly touched upon in another post but I think it deservers a deeper look into it. Often when Hatton fans are predicting Hatton vs PBF they bring up, "Castillo gave PBF problems henceforth Hatton will demolish him because Hatton does everything better". My question is other than the power advantage Hatton has over PBF, since he is the naturally heavier guy what does he do soo much better than Castillo that suggest that Hatton will demolish PBF? Castillo IMHO does everything just as good if not better than Hatton. Castillo's body attack is in par with Hattons and P4P he has just as much power, although because he fought Floyd at Floyd's more natural weight he didnt get to enjoy the power advantage that Hatton will. I think Castillo is more technical and polished with a better defensive skills and possibly a better beard. He cuts off the ring equally well and can both box fairly well. So once again my question to all the Hatton fans is why do you believe that because Castillo had some success against PBF that Hatton will demolish him? What does Hatton do that is soo much better? *Once again I'm not calling the fight one way or another in PBF vs Hatton

I recieved a serious headache reading some of the comments in this thread. Especially when we've been through this ten million times. Ricky is a badass....but he's not on Castillo's level as a fighter. Don't talk stupid mate, Hatton would kill Castillo..it's not even up for debate

hatton ricky is tough, but noone knows for sure who would win between hatton, pbf, castillo. look at calzagcy's big win over lacy you never know until the fight happens. they are all top notch fighters and until the fight happens its up in the air

The more I think about it the more excited I get imagining a possible fight between Hatton and Castillo. Really thinking about it, I'm not sure if Hatton has a big power advantage over Castillo. Hattons beard has never been tested as much as Castillo's chin has either. I'm sure Castillo can take a lot of punishment and keep going but Hatton has yet to show that he can do the same (Tzu fight he never got hit by a real good punch). Any fights that have Cotto, Hatton or Castillo fighting each other would be great. the though of castillo vs hatton has me dribbling at the mouth it would surely be foty if it happened

Hatton is also a much more versatile fighter, he can fight in more than one way. Obviously, he's not gonna try and box mayweather, but it's possible that he could box Castillo to a comfortable UD. Castillo can't fight on the outside. I think Hatton would KO Castillo in 9. Aaaaahahahahaha as if all ur previous comments werent enough, then u say this. Hatton outbox Castillo? even Mayweather had a hard time outboxing Castillo, Casamayor also a great boxer was relegated to smother castillo to avoid his shots at a distance. Corrales has received the worst end of the exchanges at a distance, the same goes for Julio Diaz, Juan Lazcano, all who at one point or another tried putting distance on Castillo, they all failed. Hatton's resume on the other hand has nothing on the above names, thats just the truth.

Hatton has faster hand speed and better stamina. based on what? Watch hatton's fights, he comes out round 12 the same as he came out in round one. He's a stamina freak. Also, hwe carries more power because he's bigger.In terms of infighting, his technique is probably on-par with Castillo, if not better. This is based on Video evidence. If you watch the two fight, they actually have different styles. Hatton moves his head a lot more and creates angles. Castillo picks his shots a lot more, even when on the inside. He crowds less, is less relentless. Hatton is also a much more versatile fighter, he can fight in more than one way. I'll go with the better and more experienced fighter: Jose Luis Castillo. Hatton MIGHT be bigger but that alone isnt going to help him take on one of the sports toughest offensive technicians.

close good fight this would be a great great fight at 140, at 147 I would take hatton because of his physical advantages. I'm not sure who I would pick at 140lbs but at 147lbs I would definitely take Hatton. I wonder how Hatton will fight at 147lbs. I think he will keep his speed and gain some power at 147lbs. I also think his stamina will be better at 147lbs which is kinda scary because he already has an incredible engine. I think Cotto at 147lbs would also benefit in power and energy level but I also think that Cotto will gain some speed and throw more combos(like earlier in his career) at 147lbs.

close good fight hatton is bigger, faster, younger castillo is the better inside fighter has a great chin and we have seen him with good bangers, good brawlers and good boxers this would be a great great fight at 140, at 147 I would take hatton because of his physical advantages.

I would take Castillo over Hatton if they ever fought at 140. Castillo has more experience against quality opposition. He's also able to adapt to whatever style of fight is thrown at him. If he fights a quick, slick boxer he can still work his way inside to get some shots in as evidenced in his first fight with Mayweather. He uses lots of head movement in order to make his way inside and land puches witout getting hit when fighting a guy like that, great stuff. If he fights a guy that likes to brawl and bang inside it's right up his alley, he relishes fights like that. He also fights with a ring generalship rarely seen. The guy can do a little of everything. He operates inside with style and class. I would give the slight edge to Castillo, but this would be a great action fight and it would be close if it went the distance.

Well I wonder does anyone disagree that Castillo has a better defense? I'm not commenting on who will win between Castillo vs Hatton or PBF vs Hatton, what I'm saying is that I dont think Hatton offers much more than Castillo did versus PBF. The only thing different that Hatton brings to the fight versus PBF is his power and strength which is more than Castillo had due to the fight being at 147 and not at 135 (which is more of a natural weight for PBF). I'm not saying Hatton isn't strong talented and all the rest I really think he is all that. However I think Castillo is all that as well. I think my real point is that I believe the constant recuring statement of Castillo gave PBF problems and Hatton is better than Castillo so Hatton by deduction will demolish PBF. is not a valid argument for pro Hatton fans. Many here know that I am 2x more excited about the prospect of Castillo-Hatton-Cotto-Margarito all fighting each other than I am of PBF fighting them, because I think styles make fights and those would be super exciting action filled fights.

The level of competition that hatton faced is nothing compared to Castillo's. So of course hatton has had some very impressive showings but compared to Castillo's but look at the level of competition. I think that at 140 this would be a great fight but i actually think Castillo can beat anybody at 140 right now unless mayweather moves back down. I'm not taking away from hatton,i am very impressed by his skills but at this point i don't see him beating Mayweather, Castillo, or Margarito, but i can see him outworking most other guys.

castillo is world class but look at clips of hatton throwing combinations then look at castillo hatton is faster it aint even up for debate as for power hatton at 147 i think could be at his perfect weight castillo is a natural 135'r maybe in p4p terms castillo has more bang but if they ever met i assure you hatton would be the stronger man we're looking at two different things then, i have most of ricks fights - and i gotta tell ya - that it IS up for debate, castillo's hands are faster, as evidenced by his short shots, as opposed to rickys winging ones. and on the strength side of things, i can admit see that at 147 ricky would def take that battle, but @ 140, i think that castillo's power would be 2nd only to cotto's power. i enjoy watching ricky, a lot of excitement, but hes never been in the trenches w/ a crazy ass mexican like he'd find in castillo. at 140, i gotta give this one to castillo at 147, that may suit hatton better.

yeah, say rickys faster and stronger and a cut above - based on WHAT?? we've seen castillo blossom to things that NO ONE ever dreamed of, he gave PBF the fight of his life in the first fight, has beaten stud after stud after stud and has shown to have almost every facet of the game down. my money goes to castillo - c'mon - i've seen him fight the best of the best back to back to back and display boxing, banging and defensive prowess and a hell of a beard. hatton is the goods, but there are fighters out there, like castillo and mayweather that he should stay away from. castillo could ruin him - and i'm pretty sure that the castillo fight after the corrales fight, cotto will land. castillo is world class but look at clips of hatton throwing combinations then look at castillo hatton is faster it aint even up for debate as for power hatton at 147 i think could be at his perfect weight castillo is a natural 135'r maybe in p4p terms castillo has more bang but if they ever met i assure you hatton would be the stronger man

Hatton is a much better fighter than Castillo. Castillo can only fight one way. He fought the same against Corrales, Casamayor, and Mayweather. Hatton can take a punch and he can pound the body, and he would break Castillo down better than Corrales did in the first fight.
