Well, onto the actual question of the thread. (Mickey Ward aint the guy in the title?) Margarito sort of has a win-win situation fighting Mayweather. Barring a performacne like Corrales versus Floyd, he can lose and so what? He lost to the commonly regarded pound for pound best fighter currently out there. No big deal, good payday, and still plenty of high level matches he can take. If he wins, its huge, he topples the undefeated guy at the top of the mountain.

Will margarito gain respect from the boxing public if he losses a close dission to Mayweather. I personally if he can give mayweather a tough fight that goes the distance it will aqctualy progess his career than a win over a lesser fighter depending on who. If the scores come back something like 115-113 will he get his props. ** Margarito already has the highest respect from the boxing public. After all, he's the most ducked fighter in the world these past few years. What he lacks is what Tito, Oscar, and Tyson had, and that's crossover fans who are excited about a specific boxer. Forget about Margarito losing to Sissyboy. He already has Sissyboy on the run. If Sissyboy were ever confined to the ring it'd be a brutal pounding and KO for Margarito since Sissyboy ain't got no punch or strength to hold Margarito off.

Mickey Ward was a throwback fighter, a true warrior who never threw a punch just for looks or to impress the judges. He lost a lot of decisions in his career, but only to good boxers who landed a few more punches. Ward usually stalked his opponents, looking to land that big left hook. The 1st time that I saw him was back in the late 1980s when he was still very young, with only 1 or 2 losses. It's been too long and I can't remember his opponent. It might have been Mike Mungin or Frankie Warren. He also lost to another true warrior, Harold Brazier a little bit later. I missed that fight but you can be sure that it was dynamite, a couple of real fighters standing toe to toe and trading shots. When Ward lost it was usually just a case of being outlanded by a slick boxer or outworked by a well-conditioned fighter like Frankie Warren. We will miss him. I'll take 1 Mickey Ward over 10 slick boxers like Zahir Raheem or Pernell Whitaker, guys who care more about impressing judges than entertaining boxing fans.

Tyson was a wrecking ball that cut off the ring better than most guys of all time in his prime. But seriously man. Everyone feared Micky. All he was....was a big risk fighter that brought the fight to you every single fight. Nobody wanted to give him a shot because he was too fucking dangerous. If you slipped up, he'd murder you. If a fighter had a flat tire on his "bicycle" he'd take the bike and fucking hit them with it. I don't care what anyone says....he's like Muhammad Ali to me.
