In 7 rounds. :) But it was a KO no stoppage. thats was hardly impressive. it was mercer 4 yrs older and was a very close competitve fight until briggs caught him with what looked like an illegal punch. whereas wlad totally dominated him and took him out with a legal volley of punches. no comparison dude

I feel the same way. This fight is quite pointless minus the belt. Wlad just wants the belt and careless about what the boxing public would think of him. The comparison to Foreman Frazier is that Foreman blew Frazier away esasily, even though Frazier was a superior fighter who had beaten better opposition, because Frazier had a style and size that was custom made for Foreman. Byrd may be made for Wladimir but that still doesn't change the fact that Wlad deserves credit for beating him. He's one of the top tanked heavyweights currently.

I dunno, I think this will be a big victory for Wladimir. Even though this is a total mismatch, this will mean alot to the heavyweight division as Byrd is the longest reigning heavyweight titlist. After the confusion that Brewster-Lyakhovich created, this win will put Wladimir back at the number 1 or 2 spot at heavyweight. It depends on where you rank Toney and Rahman.

what's sad is, after this fight is done, Wlad could move up to become the #1 guy at Heavyweight by his fans' admission. He shouldnt get credit fo this win at all, bottomline.

He'll still be the first fighter to beat Byrd in six years, so yes of course credit is due. I agree that Byrd is passed his prime but he's still one of the best heavyweights out there. Just because Byrd is an easy fight for him style wise doesn't mean he doesn't deserve credit. I mean that's like refusing to give Foreman any credit for beating Joe Frazier. why would anyone refuse to give Foreman credit? He came from TKO loss to Ali and KOed Frazier in 5 who by the way won against Ali 2-3 fights back.
