It appeared in sports illustrated in 1996, roy jjnr said he would switch hands while playing on the air hockey table and how it imrproved his accuracy and reaction time. Says thats totally how he got his reflexes. i dont understand though.
Roy also explains he took up basketball to keep his boxing at a high standard because he was getting bored, he reversed the position he was in to stop him going stale. so in basketball he was bottom of the pile and had a long ways to go to get improve his skills, where in boxing he was at the very top of the pile and had nobody to fight. baskteball attitude as a contender coming up carried into his boxing again, and training so hard trying to get better at basketball ment that he was forced to train harder in the boxing gym because he was tired out. he says it was a mental thing but i dont really understand.
Also mentions that his dad shot his pet dog and how he will never speak to him again, and said that if he ever lost a points decision in boxing he would go back to pensacola and have a nice meal and glass of wine for the first time ever then pop a bullet in his mouth to kill himself. Said his dad treated him like a dog growing up and humiliated him every day, and how he couldnt handle losing a points decision and would just have to kill himself.
Here's a present for you guys who haven't heard it yet and are interested. The Howard Stern interview of Roy from 2003, not long after he beat Ruiz. He talks about his dad and that whole controversy in depth, along with tons of other stuff. About 30 mins long.

which makes me wonder how anyone can respect Roy
Cool. Roy was the man in his prime. I think he could have possibly beaten Tarver in their 3rd fight if he wasn't nervous about really getting hit.
