hahahahahahah Hilarious!!!
In the old days it was even worse though, there were guys like Art Jimmerson, a cruiserweight boxer who knew nothing about submissions and was tapped out in the first round before he could land a significant blow. Do you remember Tank Abbot? That guy would be hard picked to find guys he would be competitive against today (if we could have a hypothetical prime Abbot vs. these guys). There were only a handful of guys who could fight on the ground as well as today's guys.
I agree that Royce, Severn, and Shamrock would be threats to todays UFC guys but they were the minority in those tournaments. A lot of those guys were sumo wrestlers and traditional martial artists who wouldn't last a round with today's guys.
Still the early UFC's were a lot of fun, especially the second one. I just disagree about the skill level of the fighters. I think there was a handful of guys who were very good but the rest were cannon fodder who offered little more than size, strength, and in some cases, striking power.
I do not see 90% of the early UFC guys hanging with a Tito Ortiz or Lidell. Let's not even get into the Pride guys like Fedor who I think could have crushed even Royce Gracie.taktarov was good to
I thought this was so damn funny....the Playa posted this in a thread in the lounge.
Bas Rutten appeared again on "The Best Damsn Sports Show Period" again and talks about the encounter that he had with the Chicago Bears line backer, Brian Urlacher. Here is the story straight from Bas.
I felt, no I knew when I said it at that moment that something about it something would happen with this story.
But I also thought that already everybody knew it from back than when it happened, I mean, I told this story already like a hundred times over the time to people, why do you think it came out so easy when I said it on the show?! I guess only the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) community knew it, and for me that is my little world were I live in.
This is what happened; I write this because than I do NOT have to answer anything anymore, you can take it straight from this, please, I am busy enough already, and please read the last part too.
We were at a charity event in FL. There were NFL players, NHL, Pro wrestlers, golfers, etc. and I was there too.
At the after party the band saw me and shouted that they wanted me on stage. I started singing with the band and than the drummer asked me if it was true that I play the drums, and if yes, if I wanted to play. I said yes and sat in with the band and played a song with them.
Jumping of the stage, having fun and walking around like a crazy man as always, and while I am walking backwards I stepped on his toes. Like I said on TBDSP, I right away took my weight off, so there was only like two pounds of pressure or something.
He started to be “not so nice” right away, really, the reaction didn't justify of what happened. (It could have just been a bad night for him)
After three times being not nice, and I tried to give him even a beer, I told him that normally I would have taken action right away because “Three strikes is out” and of course I said that in not a nice way, but I decided to walk away from this situation.
Maybe he was drunk or something because when I walked away he shouted "Do you want to take it outside?" (His exact words)
I turned around and my friends started already to laugh, I told him "yes".
Than the bouncers came out of nothing and surrounded Brian, after a talk with him he came to me and shook my hand and said sorry.
Where I didn't have a time for to tell at FOX, that it was a PARTY, everybody was drinking, and he probably drank something too and than people do different things.
I mean, look at me; I did some crazy shit in my life too and am the craziest person ever when I drink. So I probably ran around like a mad man because I always want everybody to have fun and I am pretty wild, I will never pick a fight though, but maybe I did something to set him off, so please give him a break.
Also, in the days after he was a really nice guy, one time I met him in an elevator with his friends and I talked to him and told him the beach was great and he had to check it out, and the other time he came to me and asked me "what’s up brother?" so he really isn’t a bad guy, just caught him in at a wrong time at the wrong place I guess, and than things like this can happen.
If I would have known that it would make this much news, I wouldn’t have said it, like I said before, I thought everybody already knew this story, apparently this is NOT the case.
Best wishes,
Bas

Are you kidding? The new guys would crush the old UFC guys. CRUSH them. Bas would have had trouble with maybe a handful of guys from the first few UFC's: Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, and maybe Dan Severn.
The contemporary generation of mixed martial artists are so much more well rounded it's not even funny. Those guys were very tough but their skills aren't on par with the new guys.
Look Kid A I can really see what you are saying Because I see what you are seeing when I watch UfC. What you are seeing is the reality of the pressent day. These Guys now, really have no clue how to protect themselves from many basic situations. They are trained to be offensive fighters. Let me put it this way Hoyce Gracie and his family built a world wide repected dynasty. That was respected by other master schools of martel arts. Hoyce was groomed to be the poster boy of his style. I honestly beleive that if Hoyce or even a Severn or Tactarov came back now would woop the hell out of these new or reletevly new guys. THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY DENFEND THEMSELVES LET ALONE AGIENST A STYLE THEY ARE ACUSTOMED TO. Now they have tryied to expand the sport that is honorable. But in the not so old days fighters new how to defend agienst most styles and had a certain style of offence that they could excecute. Now its the oposite. Let me put it in boxing terms. Willie Pep one a round with out ever throwing a punch. Jack Johnson held his title with rarely going completly offensive. One more thing notice in UFC how every one stands in front of each other.

On this topic of UFC and that kind of shit do you guys think it has gone down hill. Look at the first couple of years the so called best in their styles I don't personally know faught each other. Now you have a more boxing type mach up with fighters comming throw the ranks. Look at the orignal ufc and you will se suposid master agienst master which I think is true. Now people in UFC seem to have no defensive skills like back in the day. Back in the day of UFC there were very few KO's. Now there seems like there is one every fight. I could go one but I want to see what you guys think about what I was saying about the old days of UfC the Real Days.
you got issues homeboyLike I said I do not need o explain myself to you, you can just belive what I say is true or not do I think I can beat ras no But if he was the fighter he showed himself on the video being yes and that was what I was talking about. Ras has about 15 years of experance on me and about 25 pounds reagarles however he would not be able to just plow through me even in my present condition. Mind is stronger than body my freind and it is I know wheather fighting or not or just trying to get through life the warrior spirit that which will not let you give up or die is the most important thing a person has next to his love of god.
all the adrenaline in the world aint gonna stop from your balls hurtingThats what god made adrenilen for. Look posers belive me or not I don't care I earned the Name AREALFIGHTER In more ways than just kicking ass I do not need your confermation that I am such I know what I am capable of even in the state that I curranly in which is one of the reasons why that name fits me .
Wow! Sounnds like you are a real fighter.
Wears your video?we can make one if you want I'm even partualy disabled and I will give you odds. The name is no Joke by the way I am a real fighter and not just becuase I can fight.
Not to mention if a guy is mad he ain't going to feel his balls getting hit its called adrenilen. Not to mention he was slow in order to lock someone up you have to get to that full lock position as fast as you can or the person is just going to roll along with the move. regarless a lock is not a sure thing if a person can figure out quickly how to remove the presser or how to fight in the state of being locked up most people forget that they have at least 8 weapons for offesive and deffensive use. Two fists two feat/shin elbows head shoulders and thats just for stricking not to mention how effective they are on the d. not to mention his first move was a straight kick to the groin which only works if the guy is squard up if not its useless it hits your thight if you have any sort of fighting position because hes foot will hit your thigh and will most likely hurt him more than you because if he actualy thrust with the kick like he did it can compact his knee badly. Now I realise that this guy is a trained fighter I remember him from the UFC. But the things he was doing are stupid and showy. Not to mention he would have broken his hand several times by hitting him on the top of his head. Look you guys don't have to believe me and you can do what he told you and well lets just never meet and piss me off if actually think that shit would work especialy that chair shit the dumb ass is throwing you a weapion. Insead of thrwoing it, he does have some validity for doing so but if you hold on to it you have a very nice instament to increace torque. yes it will greatly slow you down but use the chair to find range and start by forcing his legs back with it knees knees.
Wow! Sounnds like you are a real fighter.
Wears your video?
Look most bouncers just pick up tricks of the trade. That guy is a profesinal. Most boucers have no clue how to beat trained fighters.

I once fought and exibition in the army and about maybe 15 seconds in we were on the ground and he got me in a perfect arm bar. He had the guard by the way. All I had to do was continually twist with the pressure he was applieing. What I did was hoped off the ground from his guard and while lifting my self up pushing my body into the pressure while compacting my arm. I punched him in the ribs with my other hand and he let go. This was not a fight fight by the way but a full contact exebition. I haven't metioned the fact that this guy was over 30 pounds bigger than me but only slighly taller. My point is that he makes a mistake in his video he underestimates his opponent. BY the way I lost that exibition in the army. Two minutes later he got me in a dead sure anckel lock. Regardles If bouncers regardless of their size are fucken stupid if the think they learned anything efective from this video. The most important thing in MMA is not doing the move but understanding and dynamics in mutliple situation. BY the way I was not that impressed with the guy as far as I can remember when he was in the UFC.
I still say he's the greatest Mixed Martial Artist of all time.
