Well, he has at least one more belt he can go after before people start calling bullshit. Golota got three shots IN A ROW, so Toney is due for at least one more title shot. As it stands now, it's looking like Toney vs. Rahman/Maskaev winner or Toney vs. Brewster/Liakovich II winner. Considering Toney came into the biggest fight of his life grotesquely overweight with 6 months to train, does anyone think he has a serious shot to win a title? If so, who would he win it from?
I think his only chance right now is for Maskaev to beat Rahman and Toney to outbox the pathetic heavyweight that Maskaev is. Even then, would Toney come in shape or get pounded to the body all night and lose a decision?
Toney's time is up in another year and a half I think. He's got one shot to pass Roy and Hopkins (unless of course Hopkins beats Tarver) by winning and defending a heavyweight title.
Dude, did you just said fight with some balls for the first time to Toney. You can't find any more bigger balls in the sport, he's had big balls for all of his career. OK this whole ball thing is starting to sound funny now.
Toney did capture the HW title against Ruiz, but they took it away from him because of the steroid BS.
yea he came out of shape & needs to get his act together, still he fought a Rahman that came lighter then Lewis KO fight & Toney was heaviest in his career. The fight was called a draw, then they need to do this again.
I believe if Toney comes around 215-220 max against any HW, he will win. He's just too damn good for these duffy heavyweights.
the fight with balls quote was in reference to diegofuego's comment about fighters needing two tries to get it done
as for most of his career- toney did fight with balls
but his last fight by showing up fat, lethargic, and inactive he was devoid of them in training and the ring
but make no mistake i was a toney believer

oh please. toney will never beat a big rangy heavyweight with skills. it showed against rahman who is far from flawless. maskeav,,,klit,,,serge and even sam peter would all knock him around like a rag doll he wont be able to get inside those guys and will get punished trying. sorry but a shot holy,,,bums like guinn and ruiz dont mean squat,,,espescially considering ruiz was even more dominated by little roy jones
....A better question could be, "will Toney explode before his next fight". At the rate he is going I expect an Elvis toilet story about him any day now. Seriously though, his window is closing fast and may already be shut. His body cannot hold up much longer minus the juice. I could see him with one more fight for a title and that being his last chance. The question is how much older and fatter will he be, and will his body hold up before or during?
It's rumored that Toney grossly underprepared for Rahman, that he didn't even do any roadwork. I think he takes his next shot more seriously and gets the belt.
** Fatboy is too fat to do roadwork. He's a modern day Willie Meehan.
I'm tired of fighters needing rematches to get it done. You'll never see Mayweather need a rematch against an opponent due to underpreparation or overrating his opponent.
exactly, fight with some balls the first time and come prepared. if not go be a circus act in the wwe or something but get out of the boxing ring. quit embarrasing yourself.
if toney can only fight for the wba belt. he would teach that punk valuev a lesson
** Hah, hah, you're in love with a fatboy. Valuev did something fatboy couldn't accomplish, he beat Ruiz and took his title. Fatboy on the other hand is ZIP for 2 and can't even punch his way out of his KFC bucket.

No rumor about it. Anyone with eyes saw that.
His problems go beyond that. He lost a huge % of his drawing power. No PPV $ for whoever he fights next. He's a HBO or Showtime freebie fighter till he proves otherwise. He had his shot twice now and blew it both times.

whys valuev a punk? becuase he's a white european? Ive never seen him threaten other fighters,,,cause riots in the ring,,..or beat up his wife
well jeez,,,,if maskaev is that bad whats that make rahman considering he knocked him out of the ring literally. I think toney is done. people forget hes getting up there in age and has had injuries. so the odds dont figure him getting any better. I think the only guy he'd have a good chance of beating is brewster and byrd,,,but brewster already lost and byrd will probably lose his next fight. serg is too big and has quick hands for a big heavy. maskeavs chin usually gets him beat but toney cant pop a zit at heavy weight and Id favor maskeav beating him with his size and strength. Id favor rahman again as well
I forgot about valuev. I havent seen enough of him to really gauge him against toney but hearing he shouldnt have got the decisions over donald and ruiz make me wonder if toney wouldnt chop the big oaf down with body shots and a big speed advantage. would be a funny fight to see. not sure if the size strength factor would be too much to overcome or not for toney

He had 6 months to prepare for Rahman and came in at a record high weight. I don't think Toney will ever be in shape again. I think his stint at heavyweight is all but over and I have to call it a failure only because he hasn't captured a title in a division where Lamon Brewster, Nicolay Valuev, Wladimir Klitschko, Chris Byrd, John Ruiz, and Sergei Liakhovich have.
