Yes it was announced by Bobby Bostick that Cory Spinks will be returrning May 5th to fight in his hometown on PPV (ha, lets hope this changes) against the "ever so dangerous" TBA. He will be fighting at the 154 pound weight limit and will be on the comeback trail for a 154 pound clash with one of the champions after the tuneup.
I was kind of hoping he would have rode off into the sunset and followed in the footsteps of his Uncle Michael. But it is good to see another top name coming into the division which could give it some excitement and make for more decent fights. (waits for hate)
Also in related new after the Cintron/Estrada clash that winner will go onto face the IBF title holder of their respective decisions in September.
Poor Spinks is in a bad way because there's so many guys at 147 and 154 who would knock him out right now. I think he knows that and that's why he's been out for a year. He's going to go all in against one of the champs at 154 and if he loses, he'll quit boxing. I feel kinda bad for him. Maybe a third fight with Judah could materialize once Judah gets destroyed this weekend, although I don't think anyone cares to see it.
i dont see too many guys at 154 that would make easy work of him
i see guys that could def beat him
but at the same time
he could def beat them as well
at 147 i think he does get taken out
too many younger hungryer impessive guys arrivin
but 154 right now seems to be perfect for him
lil older
towards end of career
154 has become a retirement weight class for former stars
Lol
Obviously 147 is in the past for Spinks but 154 isnt the same as it was even when Santos was scheduled to fight him. Spinks is a name their is no doubting that and he would land the bigger fights of course. But guys like Karmazin, DLH (Obviously this wouldnt ever happen), Vargas, Ouma (maybe), Quartey,Mayorga, Forrest all creep in that division...I give him a 55/45 chance being successful their but still it is dangerous for him...Who knows how much he has left. It will be interesting to see but still who really knows with Spinks you know?
I wouldnt be surprised though if Spinks got a belt and Mayweather started calling him out and we saw Spinks vs Mayweather at 154.

idk why ud say he shoould ride off into the sunset
hes far from being done
if he wants he can still make noise
soft boring noise
but noise none the less
comin back on PPV tho?
ud think hed learn his lesson from his entrance in the rematch with zab
Spinks has been laid off close to a year and hasnt done anything. He was supposed to make a splash comeback at 154 but it never came to fruition. Mentally I think he will be shot from the KO from Zab and from his family life. 154 has a pretty solid list of competitors right now and a lot of them could outbox Spinks...Spinks has speed and great footwork and boxing skill but no power. All of the top guys their would make easy work with him...Although I give him a big shot against Vargas would probably wouldnt be a pretty bad idea.
