Simple question, based upon the fights that both networks have been showing, if you had to choose between a subscription to only one of the afforementioned channels which would it be?
Don't include PPV's.
Tough one... Showtime looks depressing (really bad lighting) but great commentary. And HBO always feels like the big leagues despite lackluster commentating.
Shoulda had a middle option.
I agree with you accept for the commentating part. I like the guys they have. Larry Merchant & co.
Total opposite for me.
I think Larry Gets annoying as hell. Jim is ok....I guess.

he's waaaaaaaaay more popular then lennon. and he has a catch phrase every1 knows. lennon tried to give tyson a nickname and he called him mighty mike whhhhhhhhuch never caught on
soooooooo. hbo does a shitty job at analysing  i guess lederman suxs huh
I actually like Lederman, he's entertaining and I always crack up at his delivery, I guess I look at HBO as being more entertaining what with Merchant's seemingly drunk ramblings and Lampley's snide side winding comments, but bernstein tips it to Showtime for me. ;)
hbo is the better visual experiecence by far, but except for mayweather and 1 or 2 others ,all of hbo boxers are flirting with father time, for the new and up and coming prospects, and overall exciting fights, gotta go with showtime
Showtime always seemed to of been far better -
Hagler, Benn, McClellan, Prime Hamed, Tyson, Holyfield, Hatton, Tszyu, Calzaghe, etc. Great fights like Benn-McClellan, Castillo-Corrales, etc. Great occasions like Benn-Eubank II, Tyson-Holyfield II.
hbo had the prime tyson. showtime jus got the left overs. ohhhhhhhhhh that was bad
to fuckin easy HBO. 1. hbo has a more lively cast,2 they have the more exciting fighters,3 the atmosphere on there is exciting,4.they have great lighting where u can see all the fans and everything else and its not obvious that there tryin to center the attention to the fighters like showtime does on how they pretty much block out the audience into the darkness, also hbo's crowds r louder cause they turn up the volume of the audience instead of turning it down like showtime does, and they have legendary commentators unlike showtime, plus they got michael buffer ;) there ya go all in a nutshell
HBO has always been #1 for boxing in my opinion, but Showtime and that ShoBox stuff are getting better and giving them some competition.
still HBO is best for me.
It's weird, HBO gives off a whole different feeling to it when you're watching it. You feel a lot more relaxed and enjoy the commentators' voices, those guys on Showtime get annoying sometimes. The producing and all that is also much better on HBO, I'd have to go with them.
Total opposite for me.

shotime all day ,I spend more time waiting for larry merchant to have a stroke then concentrating on the fight and I wish they would stop having fights the same night as shotime, everyone knows the first saturday of the month is shotime's night

Right on!! I picked showtime though, but changed my mind. Even though I think there is less bias in the showtime commentary, HBO overall is actually the more entertaining just because there commentators have way more personality, even if they are dumb asses sometimes. Showtime has surprised us with some unexpected great ass fights though of late; Castillo/Corrales and now Brewster/Sergei which is a top candidate for FOY.
