i remember seeing alvarez fight in person back in '96. he was knocking everybody out. then i saw him i think a couple of years ago and looked slow and not throwing hard punches. arce has been a monster recently. but then again rosendo alvarez is the only man to put " el finito" lopez on the floor. if you dont know who lopez is. he was a badass mexican fighter who retired an undefeated champion. btw this fight is on the judah vs maywheather undercard. who wins?
I think this fight is gonna be a real barn burner. Jorge Arce is the baddest man at 115 and under, whereas Rosendo Alvarez has been one of the best little men in boxing for 10 years. I first saw Alvarez on the undercard of Chavez-Gonzalez, when he fought Lopez to a draw when he dropped "El Finito" on his ass in the second round. This is gonna be an explosive fight, with 2 guys who can punch and take a punch. The difference may be in the age of Alvarez, as he is getting a little old. But lets also remember thatce is no spring chicken, having been in war after war since he turned pro. In any event, this is gonna be an amazing fight, and one for the ages. This may be the greatest little man fight in 10 years.
Im predicting the upset in this one...I believe Arce will have a good go of things early but Alvarez has a ton of Joes Luis Castillo in him.
The difference in this bout in the chins...sure Arce has a good beard but he can be hurt and he can be stopped...Rosenedo chins is rock fucking solid and he will keep coming and coming an eventually halt Arce in round 11 down on all cards.
If I was a part of TEAM ARCE I would not have been taking this fight, there is too much danger in this one when you have higher profile fights against Viloria and Montiel etc that I consider to be easier then with Mr. Alvarez.
Arce's matchmaker has to be holding his breath!
If Rosendo has anything left we will see undoubtedly on eof the top 5 fights/brawls of the year!
This is exactly one of the reasons I love watching Arce; he's always looking to fight the best out there.
If Alvarez is in top shape, he wins. Arce is the popular choice because he's had a good amount of exposure recently and makes exciting fights. And while he has a chance of winning, I think Alvarez will surprise him. Alvarez only two losses are a DQ and a very close loss to Ricardo Lopez. He's got a great chin and he can crack. But I don't really care who wins. This is one of those fights, were you just know is not gonna suck. April 8 can't come soon enough.
ok give me your perspective of his last few fights vanes.. or anybody lol ;)
It has been a couple years at the minimum since Rosendo has been on TV, the last fight I saw him in was with Mendoza (they have fought like 3 or 4 times) ...the fight was close but clearly a victory for Rosendo-it is tough to say just how much RA has lost because of the type of fighter Bebis Mendoza is and the type of style Arce will provide-they are completely different aqnd I believe Arce's style is not suited for Rosendo..
I fully understand that Rosendo is not the same fighter who gave Ricardo Lopez life and death fights but Arce is not going to run around and make an old warrior look old...Arce is a face first guy who knows no other way...this is the perfect matchup for a warrior like Alvarez who is going to be in his element with a guy like Face First Arce.
To me this is more of a style thing then anything else.
Two authentically bad ass little dudes here.
I will take Arce in a war as I think he is at his peak while Alvarez may be a bit past his.

I agree with you sir. This could end up being fight of the year.
thanks vanes but looking up his record, which i already now. wont give me someone's perspective on his last three or fours fights on he looked.
well you asked who he has faced in the last 3 or 4 buddy, not for perspectives.
Check boxrec.com for Alvarez' record.
I think Arce will beat Alvarez (at least I hope he does) because it could set up a potential "fight of the year" between Arce and my boy Vic Darchinyan later this year.
It would unify the WBC & IBF/IBO flyweight belts.

Arce wins in a real war where he takes as good as he gives.
Alvarez has always been a pretty big fighter for his weight and against Arce it will be no different. If Alvarez is anything like Adonis Rivas was in his first fight with Arce (Alvarez trained Rivas for that fight) its going to be close till one of them drops.
I dont think an upset would be a crazy prediction for this fight.
