The fight between Ricky Hatton and Luis Collazo is signed, sealed and delivered. "Although we are not content with the offer Banner Promotions gave us, we are taking the fight anyway," Collazo's manager/trainer Nirmal Lorick told Fightnews.com. Lorick has just arrived back in The Big Apple from Deerfield Beach, Florida, where the deal was finalized at Don King Productions headquarters on Saturday. "We will take less to get more on the flip side," explained Lorick. "A lot of people point their fingers at Don King and they say Don King is a bad guy, but Don King was doing the most that he could for us....if it's not Luis, it would be someone else. We're going to show the world that Luis belongs in the same ring with Ricky Hatton and when we beat Ricky Hatton, then we'll talk." The offer put on the table for Collazo was $500,000. Hatton is earning $2.9 million. The bout will take place on May 13 at the TD Banknorth Garden (a.k.a. FleetCenter) in Boston. Collozo will train for the bout in Atlanta, Georgia and leaves today.
hatton is an exciting fighter ..and he deserves respect for that..Mayweather and Hatton will be more needed by Mayweather than by hatton..Mayweather hasnt been the most exciting fighter in the world..lol..Mayweather has to prove himself to the fans of boxing. There have been some exciting fews over the past couple weeks and more to come...Mayweather and Judah better fight or the will probably get booed for a majority of the fight which i see happening anyhow...Hatton on the other hand is gonna gain alot of fan support which is gonna mean bigger paydays for him than Mayweather..lets see if Mayweather will grow some balls here real soon and fight a tough opponent...Judah i think has a chance but coming off his last performance i will gsay if he wins Mayweather would be finished in boxing for a while!
spoken like a true hatton fan

is that 2.9 mil for one fight, or the 3 fight deal they were talking about?
hatton makes a lot more money especially from sponsors, he's got to be up there in earnings.
he's the hero out in england, no one hates him.
over here in the us we have mayweather, but theres a lot of fans that dislike him, which takes away sponsors.
Like others have said -- I wouldn't necessarly count Collazo out, because that guy has some nice talent. Hatton SHOULD win, though.
When or IF they meet, PBF is still going to destroy Hatton, and the UK will be in complete disarray.
what do u guys think the odds for this fight will be?
I think the odds will be somewhere like 3-1 for Hatton the night before, but then by fight time the odds will be like 7/5 man to man.
sensation, have u seen collazo fight? i have a few times. everyone knows hatton is suppose to win this fight, everyone is predicting knockouts in the 4 or 5 th rounds. but i don't know, an upset will not be out of the question. if hatton takes this fight lightly, collazo will make him pay for it.
I'll be honest with you, I've only seen him fight two times. The Miguel Angel Gonzalez fight and the one when he was prematurely stopped in his only professional loss. I think that a 4th or 5th round KO is not gonna occur, as Hatton isn't really a one punch guy. But he will break him down to the body and maybe stop him in the 10th. Collazo is gonna come to fight, this young man has been overlooked for a long time and is eager to reach the big time. Hatton is his best opportunity to reach the big time.
"We will take less to get more on the flip side"
This must be an American term as I have no idea what the hell he is talking about.
I'm not sure whether or not it's an American phrase, but I believe it means that someone will make an immediate sacrifice to reap more benefits in the future.

This is gonna be an interesting fight, as Collazo has the skill and speed to pull off this upset. However, Hatton's style is built to take down slick boxers, with all those body shots and constant pressure. I think Collazo will win the first 3 rounds, but Hatton's constant pressure will break Collazo down and Hatton will stop him in 10 rounds. But an upset is not out of the question...
Good choice for Hatton IMO. He is big for Light Welter as it is and seeing that Floyd is going to Welter as well so it makes sense. I haven't seen Collazo fight really so can't forge judgement yet, but this is the right move for Ricky bar unifying Super Light
floyd moved up, gatti moved up, hatton's moving up. theres pretty much nobody left at 140 except for cotto, castillo, and lazcano.
once called the division that boasted some of the most talented and exciting fighters in the world has pretty much been reduced to only a few elite fighters. and castillo's not really an official 140 fighter.
How can u call a Welterweight champion a bum! There is kno1 else to fight aswell...gatti/mayweather/cotto/and everyone else already have fights lined up! I can see Hatton winning this and HOPEFULLY!!! fight the winner of mayweather v judah, which will be mayweather..FINGERS CROSSED!!!
isnt he the jr. welterweight champion or did he step up another weight class
I don't see how you can say Hatton has fought nobody, mysta.
I respect your opinion, but Collazo holds a version of the title, so he is somebody IMO.
He beat one of the best fighters in the world at that time in Kostya Tszyu, and then unified the jr welterweight title by stopping Carlos Massau.
Collazo has been avoided by several big names, and Hatton is stepping up to the plate again--this time against a bigger man who is a southpaw as well.
JS
ok he beat kostya i give him that. but every1 else no1 hasnt ever head of. am i wrong?
What the fuck man, he's only just coming over to America..ya hardly gonna throw him straight into a big fight are ya
america has the same ground and land as the uk right???? unless the uk is in another planet and he has to get used to all the gravity pull in america then ok
good deal for hatton!
he will be able to display his talents to an american audience. Hatton will win by ko in round 5...This is a set-up fight for the big pay day against mayweather or even Gatti either way hatton is gonna be around for a while...they want to let the big fight between hatton and mayweather build so it will be a big pay day for everyone involved...just hope and pray mayweather dont do anyting stupid like get beat or put in courts for anything
soooooooo hatton is fighting a nobody as usual  see thats why boxin is so boring no 1 wants to step it up. if i was a pro i would fight all the great contenders for this$$$ amd recognition
