IMO this guy is another prince naz. he has a big mouth, he built up his record fighting low level comp. but at least naz was KOing people, and now that hes steping up the comp. hes going to be exposed just like naz was. i cant stand when the networks try to pass these guys off as legit contenders when theyre not. theyres no way in hell this guy should be in the main event of a PPV
:bsflag: :wtf1:
Camarena is too a club fighter and is far from a world class level. i will say that he is the better of opposition that Malginaggi has faced and that aint saying much.
let it be known that i am in no way shape or form a fan of either fighter, but if i have to pick someone to win i have to go with Cotto. he seems like a far more solid fighther with better experience.
Malignaggi rarely ever commits to his punches and is always running. granted he does have fast hands and better than average reflexes, which to some translates into skill.
i'm basing my opinion on this fight from previous fights i've seen of each fighter, their resume with the level of opponents they have fought and fighting style.
both men have a good work ethic and both will come to fight, but the fight style of Malignaggi is one that I can't imagine TAKING the title away.
boxing in and out, ripping combos and moving can win a fight, but you have to totally outclass the champ. Malignaggi does fight like that, but it's more like a pick and peck then run around. also back to level of competiton, Malignaggi has fought the kind of guys where he can get away with that stuff.
it wont be so easy against Cotto, especially if Cotto is wise and goes to the body......
if Malignaggi wins with no controversy, a clear cut victory, then i'll be the first to retract my negative beliefs about his fight style, and i'll ignore how obnoxious he is.
i just have a hard time seeing him as a dominate enough fighter to beat Cotto soundly.
i think there are a lot of guys in the 140lb division that can beat him(malignaggi)and guys that he should be fighting first before fighting a champ. guys that aren't even in the top ten..........yet.
nothing against you, i just have a difference in opinion, as do you...thanks
You've presented your arguments in a logical, well thought out fashion, and I appreciate it. It's always refreshing to me when I encounter someone on this forum who is classy or articulate and you are both.
Blockhead, even if you hate Malignaggi this a good fight. For one it's the classic determined puncher against the light footed mover matchup. For two, Malignaggi is stepping up in opposition big time so you can see what he has to offer besides a big mouth and quickness and three, we will see if Cotto has the ability to cut off the ring against a much better mover than himself.
i understand that i just think its BS that we have to pay $50.00 to watch this fool get KTFO.
do you really want to see this fight at all? this fight is shit so i dont care if they get morons to pay for it.
Camarena was not a club fighter and Malignaggi pretty much pitched a shut out against him. I see what you're saying about Cotto having more experience at the top level, but you're underrating Malignaggi's achievements a little. His people wouldn't have taken the fight if they didn't think he was ready.
I think this will be a more competitive fight than it looks on paper and Cotto will have more trouble with Malignaggi's sharp punching and hasty retreat than many realize.
Call me crazy but I'm backing Malignaggi here. There seems to be a big Cotto following on this site but I saw the Torres fight on the Klitschko-Peter undercard and was not impressed by his skills. Cotto is a tough guy with a huge heart but he has some weaknesses in his defense that a fleet footed, quick fisted opponent might take advantage of.
I think Malignaggi will fight his best fight of his career (so far) and take a close but well deserved UD.

Malignaggi keeps saying that Cotto hasn't fought a guy like him, that Cotto has never in the ring with a boxer like him, a guy who knows how to move in the ring....
i translate that as Malignaggi is planning on running in the ring and is going to avoid any kind of exchanges.
all Cotto has to do is go to his body and the fight will be over before the 8th round. 3 to 4 rounds of good solid body work and Malignaggi is going to end up being flat footed and easier to hit.
not one of Malignaggi's opponents to date have ever attacked his body. they all try and head hunt him.
but the level of competition these two have fight are worlds apart. Cotto has fought world class contenders and former champs.
Malginaggi has beat club fighters, no one even close to his boxing ability.
Cotto has fought people who actually had a chance at beating him, not one of Malignaggi's opponents ever had a chance at beating him...
Cotto by tko before the bell at the end of the 8th.....
Malignaggi comes across as more intelligent though and openly admits he talks like he does to get attention. There is something more sincere about him whereas PBF is just an immature kid.
wow, couldn't have put it any better

PBF is getting exposed?
Nope. PBF can back it up.
The new kid in town is Malignaggi who hasn't proven anything yet, and yet blabbers like he's some kind of champion.
i think cotto is PPV worthy.. we are all cotto fans and you know he will put up a good fight and will train hard. whas the problem?
fine put him on PPV if hes fighting hatton, PBF or margarito but not this guy. thats like saying the bronco fight should have been on PPV.
PBF is getting exposed?
malignaggis mouth is twice as big is floyds... and floyd deserves to say whatever he wants.. hes not a polititian hes a fighter. all he has to do is get in the ring and perform as far as im concerned. i guess i can expect people to get on my ass about him not fighting hatton or something but its his life stop trying to micromanage and shit :o
how is he a fraud if he's already fighting Cotto? These guys are still essentially prospects although Cotto is climbing the ladder quickly. Neither of these guys are frauds because they accepted this fight. but don't pay to watch them fight. that would be a joke.
ok maybe fraud is to strong but hes def. not PPV worthy but shit neither is cotto.
I agree, especially this early in his career there is no way he's PPV worthy yet. I don't think he will ever be PPV worth to be honest with you.
