what do you guys think is a good weight for a true heavyweight, well i mean the minimum, i think it would have to be around 215, i mean some of the hardest punchers were at or about his weight including prime tyson, foreman and a bit younger tua
best minimum weight for a true heavy?
Right now:
6'3 225 or 230 would be the minnimum size you need to be successful against all the other giants.
Yeah, I would have to go with this assesment. The Big guys have huge reach and in order for a heavyweight to not be at a total disadvantage he will have to be around these dimensions. Sure there will be exceptions but anyone smaller will definitely have to be a pressure fighter who smothers the other HW, however he will always remain susceptible to a heavyweight with a real good jab and decent movement.
200 pounds is the max weight for a cruiser unless something changed when i went to sleep last night.
check the weigh in for Bell vs. Mormeck for cruiser title
Bell 199.
Mormeck 197.75
190 pounds now is actually the max weight for a cruiser so 191 is the min u can go but i say 220-225 is what u is what u really should be around at min
yeah i think thats true but someone can weigh in at 200 and drop down before the fight ...just for the edge in speed
To be a dominant Heavy these days you can't be short like Mike Tyson was at 5'11 and expect to beat a skilled tall fighter easily (mind you none of these current, really tall monsters are skilled boxers anyways). As well the Giants like Valuev can be had very easily if you have the reach, and the upper body speed, (and by had, I mean knocked around like a rag doll, that guy is slow and omg awkward, and almost I'd almost even say uncoordinated). You gotta remember speed is power, you see it every day in the lower weights. I think weight is not as relevant as over-all "natural" size or even strength, but to answer your question; if you get a 6'2 - 6'4 and maybe 220 - 240lb big man with Tyson upper body speed and hands like Marciano, you can line the whole division up and watch 'em fall one by one (as long as like the great ones he has an awesome "boxing" trainer). That's the guy I'm waiting for to be the next huge Heavy sensation..........

I would say it depends on your style of fighting and what you are good at...at 190 it's going to be hard to fight 6'5 250 guys if you are all power ...Joe Louis did it but he was great over all had the power of a tyson with chin, heart and speed just a over all great boxer ....Roy Jones was around that size but he has amazing speed ...how tall are you also ?
Tell that to Rocky Marciano, he was a 185-190 pound heavyweight, one of the most powerful punchers ever
he means like average. rocky was by far an average power punching heavyweight. there arnt lots of him around :D well maybe chris byrd ;)

215 is correct. cause when u get lower your punch power goes down and if u get higher u move slower and throw your hands slower. :)
