Joe fights better than Glen Johnson and throws more and harder shots. Jones couldn't deal with those punches that looked a lot softer. How the hell will he deal with Joe's punches which are faster and harder. Joe also can go 12 full rounds nonstop while Johnson tapered off abit slightly towards the final rounds before KOing Jones. Really, what is Jones thinking?
Look if RJ shows up he will win. He destroyed ruiz he beat tarver late in the fight the 1st time. we all know that. he worked tarver in the first round of the 2nd fight. he was also ahead when he was nailed with that punch. he didnt fight johnson. he didnt train he just thought johnson would be a push over so he can hold a title and go after tarver for a 3rd fight and unify. but not taking the figh serious he was KOed. the third fight with tarver was just to see that he cant be KOed all the time. i dont agree with it but thats what the fight looked like to me. i even said in the post fight interview with merchant that he didnt really train hard to the 3rd tarver fight he didnt have that edge he use to have. so if he is going to go to wales he needs to brin RJ back out. i think roy would want this fight at 175 though. bc if you were watching espn roy said that he wanted johnson again and maybe ever tarver again. if roy brings his A game he beats JC by UD. if he just walks around the ring and doesnt do anything than yea JC UD or even KO.
thank you. roy just outpointed tarver in the 3rd fight for about 2 stright rounds and gave up. yea roy is not in no line of being out of money. my man owns 88 acres of pensicola. come on now. this is going to be a fight for roy to show the world that he still has it in him. that RJ is still in there somewhere. maybe the 3rd fight with tarver was to prove that he can still take a punch now he is going to go back to the old roy jones. which i hope he does. if RJ shows up he wins. not by KO but by a UD.
you have to look at this though. Roy didnt fight again glenn. he sat there and let glenn hit on him. jc is a good fighter yes. but he cannot beat RJ if he decides to show up. i know roy can still fight he proved it in spurts against tarver in there 3rd fight. when roy goes at you he hurts you. he was working tarver in the 3rd and 4th rounds. but than after that i guess he thought he proved something i dont know. but if RJ shows up ever again i still think no one in boxing can beat him.
I never recall people saying Roy would not fight Ruiz...hell wasnt Roy the favorite? The HW I dont think Roy wanted to fight was Corrie Sanders-for what ever reason Roy had some serious respect for the hard pucnhing southpaw and he moved back down.
Fighting Tarver for a second straight time seemed like a natural, Roy was half a sleep in that fight and I still had him beating the even lazier Toney Tarver-I thought the second fight would be a boring but very lcear UD for Jones, who new?
Lots of people said that. They said he would back out. He didn't. I don't forget shit like that. It was especially bad at **********. 60% of em thought Roy wouldn't step in the ring with Ruiz and that if he did he'd get waxed. People forget that because Roy beat him so easily.
Many people also said Roy wouldn't want to go through another tough fight with Tarver after what happened in the 1st fight.
Jones just needs to be hit on the chin and he's shaken up. Whether he goes down or not is another story. He's clearly not the fighter he used to be and he is very hittable now. Joe will hit him. I think Lacy could take good shots and it showed. Whether you call some of those shots slapping or not, a lot were clean, right down the center punches. What I think will beat Jones though is the workrate. If he tries to sit back and counter punch, he will be smothered again Johnson style. If he tries to bomb away at Joe which I don't think is his style, Joe will show his heart and fire back. It seems like after all these fights and years, Joe has found that hunger again and this time it's to prove us in the United States wrong. He said it himself, he's always seemed to do better against American fighters(gee I wonder why). I would pick Joe to win by late stoppage or landslide decision.
Roy is nervous when he fights Tarver, he remembers that shot that put him on his ass. Joe does not have the punching power to hurt Roy, and he will lose. I know i will get shit for this but Joe will be koed in this fight.

Why$$$$$$$$$$$??
Scap, how many people said Roy wouldn't fight Ruiz, or rematch Tarver twice?
I think you need to rethink this.
Roy is dumb enough to take this fight. He didn't fight scared vs Harding, he fought smart vs a skilled southpaw.
Either way, you're right...doubt he can deal with Joe's workrate.
In terms of the Harding fight-Roy was there to be beaten that night-too bad Harding hurt himself-the fight was very very close-I think we both can agree Roy was not Roy that night.

Joe slaps...he doesn't punch. Jones, rightfully or not, has no fear of Joe's power.
Roy fought scared of southpaw Eric Harding who is not a big hitter at all-he will not want to taste Joe who is being hugely underrated on this board in terms of punching power.
Some of you folks act like Jones is just going to go in there and go for it...dont you guys realize if he was ever going to do that it was against the lazy Antonio Tarver? Roy gave up in that fight against a guy who put almost no pressure on him...he fucking gave up!
If Roy is to beat Joe he will have to fight at a pace that he has never I repeat never fought at before in his professional career.
Talk all you want Roy Jones has no intentions of signing on the dotted line, this just keeps his name out there a bit longer thats all.
Wake up you dummy's just like Tyson before him Roy is all thru-dont make the mistake of not picking up on it until 2007...wake the fuck up!
It has nothing to do with money. Do you people realize how rich Roy already is?
This fight is about ego and the limelight. Roy wants VISIBILITY again, not money.
Roy didn't train hard at all for Johnson. Still, I agree he is not likely to beat Joe. But I can hope.
It's obvious Jones just wants the money, especially since he lost his broadcasting gig with HBO or whoever. What I don't understand is why Calzaghe wants this fight? It seems like he could get the same money fighting someone who is relevant, why not give someone who is coming up a shot? He's going to dismantle him anyway and it would still be a good tuneup.
