Im just looking for some opinions here...
Both guys have a laundry list list of medicore defenses and a super fight break thru late in theri careers...sure Nard's was over Tito but Tito was also moving up where as Joe fought a a green Jeff LAcy but it was Lacy's division.
What do some of you think about this?
Comapre the two.
Delawho?
I could be wrong but I thought Oscar was not part of the p4p top 10 list...could be wrong-and if he was a part of it it was purely out of respect. (this coming from Oscar's biggest fan)
He was coming off a very contraversial loss to Mosley, and was in his 4th weight division.
trinidad & de la hoya

Please .... while Joe did suffer in the esteem of most US guys it's mainly because they didn't see him fight fighters they knew. He didn't fight here or fight any of the guys we could measure him by. Now that he's beat the shit outta Lacy, yeah, we can guage his ability a bit more as well as reconsider his past performances.
There was no nationalist agenda, at least by me to "create" the persona that Bernard Hopkins became. What he accomplished was real and now I and probably most REAL boxing experts(of which I am not one) can view Calzaghe differently.
No reason to suddenly try to diminish Bernard Hopkins achievements.
There is nothing sudden about what Im saying-remember I aint Rick James bitch.

This makes me chuckle. People insult B-Hop because he stayed at a weight and let lighter fighters come up and face him. Now Calzaghe, who has said on several occasions that making weight is too tough, will weight for Winky to come up and fight him?
It is meant as satire Gomez-surely your not a dope and took this literally right?
You are just like George W. Bush...you never entetain hypotheticals.
When Joe beats Winky Wright Im gonna come knockin down your door!

a much as i dislike hopkins i have to agree w/ other posters here that his credentials are superrior to those of joe cal regardless of anyoen who may have ducked them
You're doing a spin job here, and we both know it.
There is no comparison between Hopkins win over Tito and Joe's win over Lacy. Not even close.
And jumping into the 'if' game about fighters Joe may or may not face isn't very cerdible in this discussion. He doesn't have a major fight in his entire career up to this point, and one win leads to him moving up, and not only fighting but beating better competition?
I'll believe it when I see it.
All we have to discuss now is what's actually happend.
As it stands now, Calzaghe doen't have a HoF worthy career.
Come and talk to me after these other wins happen. I'm tired of hearing about 'ifs'.

The WBO mandates weak fights no doubt whichakes them different how? Look at some of the #1 contenders the IBF served up for Bernard Hopkins? Look at them? You cant on one hand credibly critisize the WBO without doing the same to the IBF...this simply doesnt add up!
Who are the creible opponents that were missed by the WBO-who are you referring too-who did Joe not fight?
I have already said Nard's W over Tito is better than Joe's W over LAcy...you say Lacy doesnt throw a jab...didnt you know this before last Saturday...you monday morning quarterback, quit discrediting Jeff LAcy because he was brutalized and dominated-is Joe's crime that he beat Lacy too badly?
If you want to poke on Jeff Lay's abilities we can poke at Tito too, Nard said all he was going to do was follow Oscar's gameplan...at least Joe was the first top expose Lay where as Bernard openly said he already had the gameplan to beat Tito.
Youve already agreed with me my man-they have comparable records pre-tito and pr-lacy...all my man Joe has to do is put Toney Tarver away and he will have accomlished more then Bernard post Tito.
What W would you hold higher (please play the hypothetical game for a sec) Oscar Delhoya for Nardor if Joe happens to beat Tarver...what victory is more impressive?
