He was only outboxed. Least he wasn't stopped. He can take a few tune-ups and then go after Markus Beyer or one of them.
I agree. Before taking a tune up, I think he should put some time in at the gym, working on technique. He needs to improve on his jab, setting up shots, footwork and defense. In other words, work on everything but knockout punches, which he's got covered already. He's going to come up against other good boxers he cant ko, and thats when he's going to have to rely on his BOXING. I like him alot, and think he can go far, but he does need alot of work.
So is Kessler until he steps up and fights a real champ. He has coasted to 37 wins in his own backyard.I bet kessler would not come and fight Lacy in Tampa.
Kessler still needs to prove himself - true.
Problem is it's very difficult to get a chance to prove it.
Ihe so called "real champs" apparently see no point in fighting him. He hasn't got the economic potential to make it worth it and he can't force them.
In any case "real champs" at 168 is now down to Calzaghe - and just possibly Kessler and Beyer. Neither Calzaghe or Beyer has shown the least interest in fighting Kessler despite being directly approached about it.
If these two just won't fight Kessler, then how can he step up competition? How can he prove himself?
Appart from champs - who would be considered worthwhile opponents?
Lacy? - Sure, but he'll likely want a tune-up fight or two to recover confidence (and work on his style) before facing the likes of Kessler.
Green/Mundine - When they've finished their internal dispute...then perhaps.
Doubt the up'n'commers feel ready just yet. (Brähmer, Froch, Chanet, Bute, Allan Green, Dawson.... who else?)
Who else is there for Kessler to fight , that would be meaningful competition, that might do something to raise his profile?
In SMW I really see noone outside Calzaghe, Beyer (and perhaps in time Lacy) who would be stepping up competition compared to what Kessler has already faced.
So how the feck can he step up, when these two won't fight him?????
Right now Kessler can't even make his latest mandatory (Chanet) face him. Chanets manager prefer NOT to persue the WBA-tittleshot he's in line for!!!!
I mean - what can you do then????
better to lose early in career and get it out of the way - true champs bounce back- for instance of margaritos four loses 3 came real early in his career and hes a better fighter for it
Of course Lacy can come back, this loss can only make him stronger and he would of learnt alot from this experience. He still has time on his side, there is no reason why Lacy cannot dominate at 168 when JC moves up...
No way possible will he rebound from that beating......everytime he steps in with a great boxer that fight will keep replaying over in his mind...lacy i hate to say is finished.
You are right but I am just saying hypothetically..........If Kessler wants to be big time he will have to travel outside Denmark someday....Lacy has fought more times in the UK than Kessler and he is alot closer see what I mean.Kessler is no doubt a very good fighter but really you can't say shit about him in regards to Lacy until he steps up and gos for broke Like Lacy did.
Kessler has fought outside Denmark twice,in Las Vegas and Australia
I bet kessler would not come and fight Lacy in Tampa.
he probably would if the money was good. Lacy needs a break though to be fair, and then after that I hope he dominates the super middles after joe is gone he is a nice guy who chose to fight the best super middle and in another country, when he could have fought someone else and people would just have blamed Joe for being the dodger.
I belief Kessler will fight Lacy in Tampa but i can`t not see why after Lacy got so many beating by Calzaghe.Kessler have nothing to use Lacy for now

Lacy can come back, all he needs to do is work on his fundementals i.e. a jab, combos, and stop head hunting..
ooh yeah also they should look to avoid anyone that can box like Calzaghe....
I'm probably one of the few that thinks Lacy could beat him IF he shortens his punches & when JC comes in throwing & getting ready to grab to step to the side & throw a short hook/upper-cut. He obviously thought that once 1 punch would end the fight & fought like he didn't have a plan B & got his ass handed to him.

yes he will be champ again, but not in WBA,WBO,IBF or WBC,he will be in WBF,WBU or IBO.Lacy are just ordinary fighter so he can only be champ in a ordinary union.Lacy are so overrated

saw muscular Lacy go, and then I saw noodle arm Joe go.
thats what Duke McKenzie said in our commentry Lacy's old opponents just saw a muscle man in front of them and froze and got knocked out, but nobody is going to intimidate Joe.
Lacy will definitely come back from this & win a major title in his weight division. Lacy can improve from this loss because he needs to shorten up his punches & hopefully he uses this as a learning experience. It's obvious he had no kind of game plan because all he was doing was trying to land an over hand right. JC boxed a helluva fight & should get credit for doing so.
lacy is young, and he has the tools, he needs to learn from this and i know he will come back and will be champ again you can bet on that

Well all I can say is he did show great hard and a good chin which were question marks coming in to most.........I am still depressed but fuck me Calzaghe was masterful I must say.I had seen a few Calzaghe fights before and he looked good but I thought lacy would be able to pressure him and take him away from that style but boy was I wrong......He will be back and he said it himself after the fight he needs to work on his boxing skills and he also needs to listen to his corner.....Birmingham was giving him all the right advice but it was falling on deaf ears he just would not listen.Oh well congrats to Joe he whooped somewhat like Winky did Trinidad but worse.
lacy showed his inability to adapt to a new environment- a southpaw with handspeed, skill, and no fear of him-
he can regroup and comeback- but the man needs to refine his boxing- you cannot walk thru ppunches and swing once
jab jeff jab use your damn jab-
and where was the straight rights that are lefthander killers
