Maybe that saying shouldn't just apply to anybody who's not American anymore?
Obviously Lacy was exposed as an overhyped, built up "star" who didn't have what it takes at the REAL championship level.
Everybody's (everybody American, that is) been talking about how Calzaghe and Kessler (and many others) won't fight away from home, and that they'll lose big time as soon as they do because they're not the real deal. Well, American fighters can't sit at home and say that shit about everybody else anymore. It's called a WORLD champion. That doesn't mean you have to fight in the USA exclusively.
just read that back to myself - if i cant read bloodsheds posts how do i know his argument? i can read the quotes on other peoples posts. im sure everyone knew that anyway but i just wanted to get it cleared up
i cant even read bloodshed's posts and im pretty sure he cant read mine!!
His argument is basically based on SIZE. of course they want american viewers to see the fight America is BIGGER so they have a BIGGER audience to sell advertising to. Well, he's certainly got us there. America is, without a doubt, much much much bigger than Britain. He's won people, we might as well all go home.
I'm by no means a fan of boxing for a number of reasons that I won't list here because I'm not here to troll. This will certainly be my one and only post on this forum but I wanted to attempt to put the case for Joe Calzaghe. I'm well aware of what Joe has been doing in the last few years because he's from the same city as me, Cardiff, and he has a similar background, one of my parents is Italian. I'm a big sports fan and Joe is regularly interviewed on local radio. It seems that Joe is getting some some stick for being unwilling to travel. The fact is that he has been seeking a career defining fight for many years, he has been fighting and beating anyone put in front of him and looking and waiting for the fight that would settle his legacy and give him the big purse he deserved. Please don't ridicule him for not fighting outside of the UK, he would have been only too pleased to, but no-one in the USA was interested in him and he's also suffered badly with injuries at the wrong time. Thats why he did so well in this last bout, he had his chance and he was going to make damn sure he took it.
What is the point of this thread? Lacy was the one who manned up and left his own country. Sure, he got beat. Badly. But hey, he was willing to go across the pond and seek to fight the best. There are very few fighters who are willing to do that. Why all the hate on Lacy? Because a few people on this forum hate british fighters? Lame.
people dont hate Lacy, they just hate his delusional fans like Bloodshed

It's more than time zones. Why could it have occured at a reasonable time in England? Why? Because the people that put this fight together wanted AMERICAN viewers. :lol1:
Maybe it was especially important for them to let the Americans to see their boy get the living daylights beat out of him ?? Just makin' sure y'all weren't too sleepy to watch "left behind" Lacy catch 5 punch combinations all night?? :lol1:
Bloodshed, you loving this timezones argument aren't you but that re-inforces how good Joe is, beating Lacy at his own body clock time whereas it was at 2:30am for the Brit :boxing:
Lacy was schooled and a beaten man. Get over it and give JC some respect rather that try to take anything away...
douche
so the americans are gloating about the 5 hour time difference, and the british are bragging because i guess one british fighter giving a beating (a god-awful one) to an american fighter represents the superiority of their country over another. it looks like british and american people are both total douche bags.
I FEEL OWNED BY THE TIME ZONES NOW!!!
DO YOU FEEL OWNED BY THE LANGUAGE BLOODSHED?
Saturday night, people go out partying in this country, and dunno about America... then they probably got home around 2 which is about perfect timing, and then watch the fight, the hype gets killed off, and then go to bed knowing that Lacy is packing his bags with a nice big L on his record, and Calzaghe remains undefeated...
Honestly, who is worse off in this picture? :lol1:
5PM US IS FINE. NO ONE WORKS SATURDAYS.
it made more sense having the fight at 3am in the uk then 5pm us.
the fight happend here at 3m and nobody has complained about it but if the fight was live at 5pm us time all u bitches would be crying to yor mothers somut fucking chronic

there is no need going to the US unless your going to fight a superstar though in my opinion. I mean I dont understand this Hatton tune-up thing and having a fight in a crappy venue called Foxwoods in the arse-end of nowhere with a capacity of like 3,000 or something. You can easily put your name up in lights over here.

totally agree with you on that. problem is...the bucks are made in the US. and any 'world champion' wantin to make a bigger name for themselves needs to be in the states, its the wayt boxin is......SHAME THO
