After building a career on being a menacing knock-out merchant, and all round bad-ass. Does LACY have the 'pride' to be humbled, and put asside his (alround) defeat, and carry on.
He's now damaged goods (i know, it's the sign of a great boxer to come back from defeat....but when you're whole career is built around invincibilty, it's hard to make a convincing comeback....to the public...and yourself)
Or is he too 'one-note' to come back?
Lacy needs to learn to throw a straight punch.
But all those muscles on his arms on a 5'9" frame just slows him down.
Lacy look like a robot on STEROIDS
:D
Like Kessler has Oh wait Kessler has fought 37 bums. I still think Lacy KO Kessler. It is sad to see how many people in this thread made snide comments like he should become a bench presser or a cook?Come on He lost to a guy who clearly would beat damn near anyone from MW thru LHW with a flawless performance like he put on sat night.Lacy will be champ again and is still #2 in the SMW division so fuck all of you dip shits that think his career is over.He needs to take a good rest and maybe fight again in sept or somewhere around there against a middle of the road guy to regain his confidence and test his boxing skills that we all know he will be working on and see what happens.I predict he will hold a title again within 2 years.
Yes and you also say Lacy will KO Calzaghe,so how stupid are you
Kessler will beat Lacy the same way Calzaghe has done
lacy should come home and fight peter manfredo jr. they both beat a washed up pemberton, so why dont they fight one another to see who is the better guy at this point with lacy coming of a serious defeat.
Peter Manfredo Jr :D :D
Yes let Lacy fight another bum
He has already fought 21 bums :D :D :D

he has to pray Calzaghe retires or moves up in weight because right now it's a 2 man division. We don't even know if Kessler can hang with Calzaghe but surely he'll do better than Lacy.
jab jeff jab- in the fight he exhibited no adaptibility to his environment- 12 rounds exact replicas of eachother- maybe after his gf dumps him and his cuts no longer sting - hell realize the art of jabbing- combination punches
i still think a rematch should happen (wait before you say there's no need for a rematch because lacy lost so badly, just hear me out on this one) the rematch should happen if lacy meets these requirements
-- get another trainer and corner
-- take a couple of tune up fights
-- depending how well he does in those tune up fights and if he wins them.
if Joe tries to go for the 50-0 unbeaten record then lacy should get a rematch.
Lacy's presence and sheer power was intimidating, but Saturday proved that you can't be a great champion and be a one-dimensional fighter. A good boxer will always beat a good puncher. Lacy needs to learn some boxing skills. He has incredible power, and if he can make himself out to be a great boxer, then we will see one hell of a fighter and champion. I'm anxious to see where he goes from here.
but there is a question i have to ask, and because i'm a lacy fan, some of you might think i'm just trying to make excuses but i'm not.
do you guys think the ref should have taken a points off of calzaghe sooner then when he did?
Yeh i felt his trainer wasn't actually providing him with any actual instructions out there just implying that he should try for a KO (stating the obvious huh!)
He feel that he shouold take a rest cos he as been fairly active over the last 13 months then he some has one or two tune ups fights beore fighting at 168 but surely not against Calzaghe (im sure we all agree on that!)
i remember reading in another thread that people said lacy should get another trainer. that should be a real possibility because they just told him to do one thing. just throw a 1.2 combo. from rud one he couldn't really do it. if i was his trainer i would have told him to move his head and try to get some shots in the body and not go for the haymaker and use his jab more and not jujst do that one combo his corner was telling him to do.
if he can go to roach or mcgirt, they will teach him what he needs to work on and it will make him an even better fighter and get bigger fights and all of that.
maybe he should have a couple of tune up fights or even move up in weight, but he has to stay active. and if he can work things out, he could possibly be considere a great.

I hate to break the news to you.....
But Kessler is absolutely no better in that regard.

No, and he is absolutely humble enough to come down from this defeat and learn something. He's not like Tyson, he's not like Foreman mentally. He may have thought he was unbeatable, but he is level-headed enough to see that he needs a lot of improvement. He could go either way now, but I like to think that he'll become a great boxer over the next several years. One we'll remember for ages, and one that will be talked about as the greatest of all time. Hopefully he does not go the Tyson route.
Yeah, i think it's gonna take 2-3 warm up's, for LACY to get some confidence back. Given his size, i see no objection to him moving up a weight (age, usually dictates this anyhow) but as much as it get's his confidence back, his skills are now under question. Every commentator is gonna mention his fight with CALZAGHE now, it's gonna haunt him, that's for sure! And they'd be no point (money asside) in fighting bums, only to get his ass handed to himself again. So in hindsight, a definate weight change, would benefit him. He needs to work more on his overall fighting abilities, rather than looking for the 'haymakers' all the time.
Has there been any interviews with LACY, or is he still in hospital. It'll be interesting to see how he composes himself, after this defeat. Will it have changed him?
Lacy needs a long rest, then he needs to fight a couple of bums blow them out and get his fear factor back, then he has to take a risk, fly to Germany and fight Beyer if he wins that then he has Kessler to look for. So all is not lost, unless he loses to Beyer because then there is nowhere to go, I cant see that happening though.
He has already fought 21 bums :D :D :D
why not. US this time. maybe something changes.
Nothing would change in this fight. Calzaghe would beat the hell out of Lacy again and maybe this time even knock him out. He had Jeff in some real trouble and Jeff was simply too slow to deal with him. He also could not handle the combos and the southpaw stance either. Jeff wont be able to beat Calzaghe no matter what he does. Saying that Jeff could change something by fighting Calzaghe in the States is like saying If Trinidad fought Winky Wright in Brazil or Zaire that something would be different.
