I'm not giving this answer just because I'm influenced by the fight tonight....but Calzaghe would kick Tarver's ass all over the place. His fucking hands are so fast, I had trouble seeing him throw combinations.
the fight has to happen, Calzaghe wants the big bucks now he didnt get that much for Lacy.
Honest answer. I thought Calzaghe would win on points. He was the better fighter. I hope he has earned a date with Tarver now!

I've never seen him that fast. Ever.

I think what we learnt tonight is very simple, Jeff Lacy is not the great fighter that everyone thought he was going to become, he is only a good fighter.
People tend to get too excited when they see a puncher coming up who is physically very strong. It is the same with Sam Peter. There is someone else who I think people got too excited about his punching power early in his career and thought he was greater than he really was. I'm not going to say his name since it always starts controversy, but you guess ;)
I will have to openly admit that I was picking Lacy. To all the Calzaghe fans congratulations, you were right.
He is finished IMO. Another; less talented, less marketable Fernando Vargas after the De La Hoya fight.
wow. did u see vargas' last fight, he is far from done. and so is lacy, u cant announce someone done after losing.
im lacy's #1 fan i you have to give calzaghe credit. joe did what he had to win. use his experience and fast combinations and frustrate lacy to the point where lacy wasnt even throwing punches. i didn't think at all that lacy would lose but thats boxing. eventhough i hate calzaghe's slap style, he fought perfect and impressed me against a fighter like jeff.
Jeff is a great fighter, no question about that.
Tonight would of taken a lot out of him, but he can still bounce back and dominate at 168.
You can't change what he did to Vanderpool, Reid etc.
It's just that nobody expected Joe to be able to roll back the years like that.

A bum that beat Robin Reid, Syd Vanderpool and Omar Sheika?
He got outboxed by the better fighter
Syd Vanderpool is a bum. Robin Reid is a shot fighter, and win over Sheika isn't anything to build your leagcy on.
So am I.
Thing is....I'm eating my words from the past, and there is absolutely no way to call Joe a protected bum anymore.
He's a hell of a fighter.

I thought it was quite sad his woman was shouting for him in the neutral corner and he was getting his ass handed to him in front off her
I think she will be going for a manchester 8 ball tonight :D in both holes ;)
Jeff Lacy is a bum
This guy is the most overhyped fighter I have ever seen. He fights like post Cus D'Amato Tyson; No skill, hit or miss style. Though at least Tyson had a shade of defense, this guy's idea of defense is sticking his gloves next to his face.
Lacy is also slow as a turtle. I was under the impression that he had above average hand speed.
I'm sorry, but i've seen Joe fight before. He never dominates the inside. He fought a bum today.
You just saw the reason that Roy Jones Jnr and Bernard Hopkins dodged Calzaghe all through the 90's.
Roy and Bernard are totally different fighters compared to Lacy.
I'm disappointed.
