Just a reminder to all of you who are thinking of taking that +750 on Branco. Cotto is better technically, and has a much more consistent left hook than Gatti. I think this will be a stoppage win for Cotto...could be very exciting while it lasts.
i heard branco has a pretty solid chin. true or false?
Well from the clip you can see him take a pretty good left hook by Gatti and still got up so i would say yes, he has a pretty good chin.
Problem is, Cotto comes in about 17+ pounds overweight at fight time. Not much more I can say except Cotto should be at 154, Hatton at 147, Gatti at 160, Corrales at welterweight etc.
If Gamache wins his case against Gatti I fully expect one of Cotto's opponents in the near future to sue him. It's a blatant form of cheating and it should be stopped. It just buggers me off seeing unfair weight disadvantages ruining the sport i've grown to love.
** What's unfair when all the fighters follow the same rules? 17 lbs is nothing in the history of boxing.
At any rate, the weights may have been tampered with in the Gamache case. If Gatti did indeed weigh the 175lbs claimed, he would also be fat which is a disadvantage for a guy who started as a featherweight. Gatti's highest listed weight has been 149. Gamache fought as high as 157 and would clearly be the heavier fighter if their career weights were averaged. You've buggered yourself over nada.
exactly
so u probably want them to wear head gear
its not exactly the safest sport
so if theyre willing to risk bodily damage by getting hit by guys that train to hit them
then its up to them
if they decide to drain themselves
its up to them
yes it is my attitude
u may not like it
but thats how it is
and it aint gona change
If fighters should protect themselves so much so that they won't be hurt then maybe they should play chess...
It's up to them? Is that the kind of attitude we should have? Fighters are punching each other in the face for a living, we should protect them at all costs.

re abdiel2k:
Look, any average Joe on the street can dry himself out, sweat himself down by wearing a rubber suit and exercising in a sauna. It's one thing to drop a couple of pounds using these practices, but these fighters are dropping 20 pounds doing this dangerous and life threatening activity. It's often times taking the place of sound training and nutrition which is what day before the fight weigh-ins are supposed to have avoided.
i guess
but it when theyre drained that still leaving just theyre muscle
so what if u drop water weght
and poop a lil more
i just dont see water weight be such an advantage
it just seems like a big deal cuz the 2 main guys that are known for doin this
cotto and gatti have good power
so it makes it seem like thats where their power comes from
but how many times have u seen guys drain themsleves for fights and be weak and not 100%
drainin down for a weigh in is a gamble
if theyre willin to take the chance
its up to them
ya
i dont think bronco KOs cottos
be it will be interesting to see how badly he rocks cottos
cuz its like he said
shits only been goin from bad to worse for cotto

its not unfair or any o that crap
its all under the rules
weight draining dont bug me
to many fighters do it
and its not that bad
make weight day of weigh in
its all good
if they wanna drain themsleves
eventually itllcatch up with them
So then in that case they shall change the weight in to the day of the fight in that case. lol . But hey.. they make the weight.. That's the important part. Other fighters could do the same. Either way Cotto is moving up pretty soon to 147. Every fighter comes in a lil overweight at fights. I agree Cotto comes atleast 15+ pounds for fights. But hey they other fighters could do the same. Anyways.. lets see how much he comes in tommorrow. Im assuming Cotto comes in at 148...
154? Thats to much. Cotto would be good at 147. And what does your logic have to do with "We are talking about Cotto here gents-he should be fighting at 154." If cotto comes in at 150 or above for tommorrows fight i feel sorry for Branco  There wont be a Split decision. :bottle:

Branco's a fairly decent fighter and I wouldn't be suprised if he came on top with a split decision win. We're talking about Cotto here gents - he should be fighting at 154.

Yeah but Branco still won that fight. He was ROBBED.
No way was Branco "robbed." It was close, but Gatti clearly won 7 rounds to 5, plus the extra point for the kd. You could MAYBE make a case for a draw in rounds, but that still leaves Gatti with a 1 point win. Branco should have lost a point for rabbit punches anyway, but got away with about 4 warnings. So in order to have Branco winning the fight 114-113 the judges would have had to have him ahead 7 rounds to 5 with no even rounds. I don't think Branco won 7 rounds of the fight, no way.
Gatti was by far busier and more consistent, controlling most of the fight with his jab. He dominated punchstat numbers as well.
this branco guy if i remember correct took soe nice shots from gatti
i dont think cotto has more power in the sense of 1puch lights as gatti
but hes defmore consistent with it
cottos power is more like break ya down and leave ya hurting
hurting bad
i look forward to a good effort from branco early
then him tryin to survive as cottos beats that gut
then maybe finishes him late with a head flurry
