elaborate, i have not really had an opportunity to see him fight so i am curious as to why he is the greatest fighter to have lived.
And no pac would prolly not beat him
robinson didnt have great power at 160..he feet wasnt fast like ray leonard..u idiots love to give old fighters these god like attributes just because they fought a long time ago
have you seen the graziano fight? watch it and then try to tell me that robinson didnt have great power at 160. have you seen the wars he had with basilio? you are simply wrong. he is the greatest p4p ever and he deserves it.
far from flawless..thomas hearns was about the closet fighter to being flawless
Sorry dino, but you are an idiot.
Or are you consistently mocking yourself and I just don't get it?
That left hook that took out Fullmer, who was IMO a middleweight Jim Jeffries in terms of durability in strength, was unreal. It's cliche to say not but it really was the perfect punch. Perfect speed, force, and timing.
Robinson had very, very good power at middleweight.
so ray robinson had alot of power @ 160 ?
Yes he did, and if you took the time to watch his fights with the likes of LaMotta, Fullmer, Maxim, Turpin, Olson, Graziano, etc., etc., it should be quite obvious to you that Robinson still carried "great" power at Middleweight.
dino i am new here but every post i have read from you is stupid...you are an idiot...you have a pic of chavez all bloody and your calling him fat, slow and no defense and you dog srr...srr was the best period ! go learn boxing you tool.

You're a friggen idiot.
you really should watch some tapes...
basically he was everything
some nut above mentioned he would not be anything special today...
Jones, great speed and reflexes...seemingly bad chin and too cautious to take chances...
Robinson, great speed and reflexes, great chin, and willing to take punches...
Toney, great defense, good speed and skill, but not so great shape and gets lazy sometimes...
Robinson, great defense, great speed and skill, always in shape and ready to flow...
Trinidad, great power, determination, but lacking defense and one dimensional...
Robinson, great power, determination, good defense and multi dimensional...
shall I continue?
see where I am going?

SRR was the perfect fighter. I wish I could've seen him in his prime. His left hook was amazing & in those clips with the precision & power he threw it with was flawless. I even saw him through some triple left hooks & to do that is crazy. SSR would DESTROY any Welter now or ever.
to even mention jones's name in the same sentence as ray is an insult to the mans memory. he had balance, great footwork, speed, power and a heart as big as a truck. undefeted as an amateur, he was only beaten once in his first 127 fights, by lamotta, after he was inducted into the army and had'nt trained. he avenged this defeat 2 WEEKS later.
great, great fighter. by the way, he always said the best fighter he ever saw was willie pep, who he beat narrowly as an amateur.
Jake Lamotta was his only real rival, and he beat him 5/6 times.
From what I hear there was controversy over some of the fights saying that LaMotta was robbed 1 or two times against Robinson.
Jake Lamotta was his only real rival, and he beat him 5/6 times.
even though they only fought twice, carmen basilio was a good rival for ray as well, and dont forget gene fullmer.
** Keep in mind that all of the pro video on Ray is after he had over 100 fights and was fighting beyond his prime against naturally larger men. Ray is one of the few fighters who had everything and stayed ranked longer than any fighter in history, being ranked for most of his his 25 yr career.
rjj would whup ssr, and srr doesnt have a good chin at all. hes been dropped, hurt and ko'd many times in his career
thats odd considering that rjj is shot after about 1/8 as many fights as sugar ray.
Tall lanky guy who could take the best punch of anyone in the division and routinely knocked out seemingly more powerful fighters in a weight class which, at the time, was filled with great fighters. Lost his light heavy match by heat exhaustion, rather than to his opponent....
