Someone told me that Smoking
Joe laughed about Ali being
brain damaged and gloated about it
by saying "Who do you think really
won our fights in the long run".
With this statement he was claimin
that he was the one who gave Ali brain
damage and he appeared to be gloating
about it, please dont tell me this
is true. I love Smokin Joe he is one
of my favorites. But this is a
messed up comment if he really said it.
The fact of the matter is that Ali said some racist comments. Ali had the power to turn some of Joe's own people (which in this case is the "black people"), against him.
Joe was raised poor and Ali was not.
Both suffered from racism, but for a person that has experienced it, to do it to another, is bullshit.
Oh, one quick tidbit, there was an article that said Ali was part "white”?
maybe he was upset about that too
I really think Ali was mad that Joe had darker skin and was...
Yeah Ali did call him an Uncle Tom and called him ignorant.

Amen brother. Ali was definitely the asshole in this one.
What Frazier said, I think, was "I did that to him."
He also said, "If you look at him now and look at me, you know who won all them fights".
And said something to the effect of "Now who can't talk? Now who goes duh, duh, duh, duh?"
Yeah, bitterness and anger. Sad really. Those two ought to be great friends for what they did for each other's legacies....to say nothing of how much money they made each other.
....He said it because Ali was an asshole who treated smokin Joe like shit. He called him a gorrila, made fun of hom by saying that he couldn't talk, joked about how dark he was, etc. etc. Frazier helped out Ali when he was down and hurting financialy after the draft dodging situation and Ali turned around and shit on him. What comes around definitely did go around.

Yes, he said it. There's a lot, or was a lot of hate for Ali from Joe. Ali, leading up to their first fight, called Joe all kinds of ugly things. He called him an Uncle Tom, ugly, ignorant, etc. Joe's kids got in trouble at school because of other kids calling their daddy names and fighting them.
See, when Ali was broke and couldn't box in the late '60's, Joe was the one that helped get his liscense reinstated...he went to Washington to plead his case! Joe gave Ali money when he couldn't pay a hotel bill.
From Joe's perspective, he helped Ali out during Ali's darkest hours and Ali returned the favour by betraying him in public....stabbing him in the back, effectively.
When Joe said what he did, on "Howard Stern Show", if I'm not mistaken, he did indeed mean it. He also says as much in his biography, "Smokin' Joe". Whether or not they've burried the hatchet since or not I don't know; but Ali really hurt Joe with all that crap back in the early 70's and Joe hasn't forgot it.
frasier helped ali out when he dodged inscription if it wasn't for frasier ali would have had a much harsdwer timwe cxoming back
now frazier is poor and where is ali?
So Joe Frazier wasn't really an Uncle Tom when he fought Ali? He didn't do much to dispel the notion of the "servile Negro". Not that I care. He's a strong, proud man. Too each their own. But when you put yourself out there for God and the world to see, you can expect to be scrutinized minutely. Sometimes it works to your advantage; sometimes it doesn't. At least Frazier never went to jail for being who he was. And who doesn't believe Ali won quite a few of his fights by getting into people's heads before the bell even sounded, just like Tyson and Liston? Psychology was half of his game at least.
Anyway, Ali is still giving back after all these years, inside and outside of boxing. He could hide out with his condition and all. But he stands up proudly for the whole world to see, for better or worse, come praise or criticism. What the heck is Joe Frazier doing today, except still riding Ali's coattails? I don't really care about Frazier's feelings. He's a heavyweight fighter for crissake. I'm sorry his kids had to suffer through those times, though. But they didn't suffer any more publicly than millions of kids are still suffering privately in their own situations in inner cities all over the country.
What the heck. They were both great fighters who helped to define each other and the sport. They left much of themselves in the ring. Let 'em be already.
Wow. That's one of the dumbest things I've read on these boards.
If you don't care about Frazier's feelings then by definition you don't care how he feels about Ali. And so you've just posted a bunch of crap about something you don't care about. So I'm sure you'll excuse me if I choose to ignore your stinking pile...

How is Frazier riding Ali's coattails?
Neither did Ali, peckerhead. Ali spent a weeked in jail for reckless driving or something like that. That's the only jail time he served.

I don't think he really means it,when asked about ali, when ali lit the olympic torch and he was shaking he said ali should of fell in the fire...when ali is usually asked about frazier he says he still... UGLY...which is def true...after hatton(spastic)...frazier is the ugliest looking boxer...
