i dont want to see the de la hoya mayweather fight simply because i dont think de la can beat him now and mayweather will use a victory over an old oscar as another way to pad his record and avoid real contenders. i couldnt agree more, oscar fighting his farewell fight against baldomir is lame, imagine if lennox lewis wouldve wanted to fight someone like kirk johnson for his farewell fight?? wait a second here.........

I'd rather he lose to a big fighter than to lose the welterweight crown to another nobody. The division could use the stability of seeing a champ like a Hatton that will lead to all the big fights

Baldomir deserves the money, but I don't think he has the skills to look too far into the future....

From what I read on it, Baldy was supposed to take a fight for around $500,000 and if he was to win then get a crack at Oscar for the millions. De La Hoya/Mayweather has to happen. Opponents mentioned early in the discussions were Antonio Diaz, Ishe Smith, Craig Weber and Larry Mosley, but all were ruled out for one reason or another -- either they were unavailable or unacceptable by one of the sides. The second fight of the Golden Boy proposal would call for Baldomir to fight in the fall with one scenario being a $2 million minimum to fight De La Hoya if he and Baldomir each win May 6. I can't see the Oscar fight happening. As far as I know he was just one of the proposed opponents. But then again I think DLH/PBF is a no-hoper as well :cool: .
