WBC mini-flyweight champion Brian Viloria (18-0, 12 KOs) punished Jose Antonio Aguirre (33-4-1, 20 KOs) over twelve brutal rounds to retain his 108lb belt by unanimous decision Saturday night at the Aladdin Resort in Las Vegas. Aguirre had a big round three strafing Viloria along the ropes for an extended period, but Viloria's superior punching power gave him the edge in most rounds as he won by scores of 116-112, 116-112, 117-111. Aguirre, a former longtime WBC minimumweight champion, has now lost three consecutive 108lb title shots.

aguirre put up a brave stand really. he earned the respect of viloria who was earlier quoted that he'll knock aguirre in r4. he had his moments too but i guess youth and stamina prevailed this time. oh i could hear some of my mexican brothers saying..oh my we got another shot fighter here...this and that... :o
It was a good learning fight for Viloria.Realisticaly his opponents are still being well chosen,Aguirre was coming off of 2 KO loses.Viloria needs good experience like any good young fighter.
