Hi. I'm working on a project for a class and need to obtain the classic ABC Howard Cosell call of the Frazier-Foreman I fight in 1973 in Jamaica. (The fight as a whole, not just that famous first knockdown call.) Really I need the audio, though the video with audio would of course work too. Is there any way to obtain this on short notice--somewhere to download it from the Internet, something I might be able to rent from a video store, etc.? Thanks.
Still no luck for the Cosell version, but thought I'd bump this one last time in case anyone else has any ideas of where to get it.
There was one on E-Mule, but after taking hours to download, it turns out to be a German language broadcast (actually spoken over the Dunphy version, which can still be heard in the background).
OK, I was able to get that one and it is indeed the Don Dunphy version. I want to thank you very much for providing it, Tony.
I'm still going to try for the famous Cosell one if it's available anywhere. I know they repeated it countless times on Wide World of Sports back at the time. I'd be surprised if it's not available somewhere.
Hmm, that's odd. I wonder if it's someone impersonating Cosell (not many people naturally sound like that), but if so why would they change the most famous sequence?
Thanks Tony. Mostly I'm just looking for the original Cosell broadcast of the fight itself. Any pre or post-fight material from that same broadcast would be a welcome addition. Other material from a different show about the fight I would be less likely to have use for, but it might help.
(It's for a film editing class. We're supposed to take a bunch of old western footage, including an extended fistfight sequence, and re-edit it with new sound. I got the idea to try a humor piece where I sync it with the Cosell Frazier-Foreman fight call, because it's a short fight with a lot of action and multiple knockdowns, Cosell's verbal histrionics are powerful and famous, etc.)
Thank you. I doubt I'll be able to become a regular poster and establish much of a reputation on such short notice. Hopefully someone will take pity and let me know where it can be downloaded. (I probably would have been a lot better able to contribute a few years ago. I used to follow the sport very closely and especially love the history, but have drifted away from it in recent years.)
