HBO offers a very weak card in Cotto vs. Branco, which could morph into an entertaining, although pointless battle.
Showtime offers the biggest Super Middleweight bout since Toney-Jones 12 years ago when Lacy challenges Calzaghe. Both are undefeated just like Toney and Jones were in 94. Both guys are knockout artists looking for supremacy.
Even Cotto fans gotta tape HBO and watch Showtime IMO.
Folks, panic not unless Showtime does a lot of time killing, for otherwise I believe you can easily do both HBO and Showtime.
Showtime's broadcast begins at 9 PM EST, and I think is just a single fight, Calzaghe-Lacy.
HBO's broadcast begins at 10 PM EST.
So, unless Showtime does as they are apt to do and talk for half an hour first, I believe all will be well.
Let's hope.
True true, and their might be knockouts so that would make it even easyer to watch both. But if I had to pick i would pick the lacy vs calzaghe fight hands down! I think cotto is cool but the lacy fight has fight of the year written all over.
I do agree that Showtime presentation pales in comparison. Nobody handles a big fight and gives it that feel like HBO does. Thats just one man's preference though
Ya know, Showtime presentation aside(cause it always disappoints), you can't miss Lacy-Calzaghe. I would only watch the HBO show for their presentation and telecast as it's a lot more professional and I'd always choose them over Showtime. Though this is too big of a fight and will definitely be too explosive to miss! Showtime just needs to pick up their telecast. Who the fuck remembers. KEYS TO VICTORY, when the actual fight begins? NOBODY. It's a lame attempt to try getting the public to think with the sport or make it seem very strategic. It is though cmon, I hate when they are drawing lines on where punches will connect and this and that. It's so retarded and a time waster. I've never remembered any of those things they showed and a fight can be over with 1 punch in the first round, so let's get real Showtime.
are you being serious? I've never seen Al miss on his keys to victory. I always tell whoever I'm watching the fight with to pay attention when Al starts to go over them. You need to pay more attention, dude.

How can anyone with Showtime miss Calzaghe/Lacy? I'm as much a Cotto fan as the next guy but the Showtime card will blow HBO away again.
I do believe the fight is on ppv for non-subscribers of Showtime. I think it's about $19.95.
Screw that. Calzaghe-Lacy is a big fight. I'll watch any pre and post fight stuff they do on Showtime. Cotto and Branco can wait for my VCR to tape them the next morning.
Exactly they'll be replaying it
at least twice on Sunday and more than that if you got the HBO package on directv (HBO's 1-8)

i'll guarentee the Showtime telecast will go over an hour.. they'll spend 30 minutes talking up the fight, doing fighter profiles, Ask Al, etc.. you know what that means, go buy DVR if you don't have it already.
What i'll most likely do is just see the Cotto fight on HBO East later that night.

Well I'll be playing both but paying more attention to Lazy-Calzaghe.I'll be playing showtime on my comp, and Hbo on my TV ;)
You guys haven't mentioned the Mosley-Vargas replay though. If you don't order the fight and choose not to download it and it turns out to be a barnburner, then the decision gets tougher. Either way, if you ain't got DVR you ain't livin so it doesn't matter to me

I agree with you......Even if Cotto is your favorite fighter you can't miss Lacy/Calzaghe.
