What homeruns are to baseball, a knockout is to boxing.....for me, Id rather see a homerun than a base hit and Id rather see a fight won by knockout than by a decision.
As a fan or a boxer, what outcome do you prefer best.....a knockout or a decision in boxing? :boxing:
i like knockouts if they are real and good stoppages like a lot of fights get stopped too early and theres controversy which aint cool. id rather have a decision than that.
decisions can be very compelling too that anticipation before they announce the winner in a real close fight is about equally exciting as a good knock out. especially if its a split or majority decision. "has it 114-113 for the winner and.......new world champion sugar shane mosley" see thats exciting too.
I love a good KO but hate when its in like the first 3 rounds, i'm sure you'll all agreeI definitely agree with you on this....I was extremely dissapointed the other night when Antonio Margarito knocked out Manuel Gomez in just 73 seconds of the first round....I just got one sip of my beer and it was over! Dont get me wrong, it was a nice knockout, but too quick....gotta see some give and take for at least a few rounds, ultimately a six round KO is perfect. Anyone else agree? :boxing:
I think we all would just like to see clear cut winners whether they are by KO or DEC.
Realistically, it is hard to NOT "want" to see a fight end by some sort of stoppage.
I personally don't like seeing the knockouts where guys are having sesuires (spelling?), eyes rolling back, head's bouncing off the mat, and Codrington type of stuff.
I just appreciate a clear winner.
i agree, i like a vicious KO just as much as the next guy, but when someone has some gross stuff happenin to them like that, id rather watch ruiz shadow boxing on real bad quality
yup, i remember him....Im tellin you, taking a hook to the liver hurts so bad and the pain lingers so long...id rather take a head shot anyday. :boxing:I won't take either, buddy! :) Neither one to the liver nor one to the head, or any to anywhere.
In any case, huge punches are what make me admire and respect fighters for how much they can take as much as what they can give. To say it's a painful business, this boxing, is to understate.
Come on man, who wants a fight to go to the decision. No one.
Its all about the tko.when fighters battle evenly across the rounds of the fight to the distance, the decision of the fight is a good identifier of the winner, however when a fight goes the distance with one fighter taking a beating, its a no brainer who the winner is.....but the knockout, no question who won that fight!!! Knockout any day for me. Thanks for the posts everyone! :boxing:
I saw a few of that, some authored by Mike McCallum come to mind rather quickly. He was called "The Body Snatcher".yup, i remember him....Im tellin you, taking a hook to the liver hurts so bad and the pain lingers so long...id rather take a head shot anyday. :boxing:
As a fighter, I'll take a win anyway I can get it.....knockouts are awesome, especially the lethal left hook to the liver, thats my favorite.I saw a few of that, some authored by Mike McCallum come to mind rather quickly. He was called "The Body Snatcher".
i prefer to see knockouts but if all fights end up like ward-gatti then decisions are good for me, lol...
the difference really are the judges... ko's don't need judges opinions... decisions do... and you can't rely on decision that much :D I cant disagree with that! those ward-gatti fights were brawls....gave a true meaning to phone booth warfare.(if anyone remembers what a phone booth is, lol)
Quick knockouts are fun to watch and i like them as much as the next guy,I mean who can forget Tyson pasting Spinks or Foreman vs Frasier,
but i love watching thinking fighters, guys who dont land any punches by accident, where every punch is deliberate and calculated, intelligent fighters who pick their opponents apart, methodicaly breaking them down and then putting them away, take hopkins vs tito for one exampleI can dig on that.....obviously when a fight goes the distance, the more punches are landed and the more damage is inflicted- not too hard to see who the winner is that way. :boxing:

decisions can be great fights also as long as there is hard shots traded... take wlad vs peter... peter rocked wlad a few times but wlad boxed technically good and rocked peter pretty good in the last round... very entertainng fight
I really just appreciate great fights, whether it's a decision or a knockout. But yes I agree knockouts are more memorable and they add more drama to a situation. Knockouts are fun, but I especially like them when they are hard earned and a guy has to be broken down before you stop him rather than just blasting him all at once, but hell I just love boxing period.
if I have a choice I like fights to end in knockouts, does not matter if its a one punch haymaker or beatdown ...Same here, as long as there's no permanent damage to the fighter, its the ultimate in ending the fight. No mistake about the winner in that case.
