Bro did you just bump a 9 year old thread to participate in a discussion that is no longer relevant? The posts in this thread were obviously basing their decision on much less information than we have now. Wlad is obv an ATG now.
It's pretty sad that he obviously trawled through old threads on the search engine then responded nonchalantly to this one as though no one would notice the fact that it's already nine frigging years old.
If there was a heated "ATG" debate about Wlad 10 years ago I'm sure he's been cemented by now. Check thread date ya bozos.
Yeah I don't see anyway this could be a debate anymore. Wlad could very well be top 10 heavyweight of all time imo. Putting him anywhere lower than top 20 is a joke.
Hell no... he isn't an All Time Great and will most likely never be. If he starts taking over now, suddenly can take a punch and doesn't offer excuses for everything, and become the undisputed champ for a few years then he might be a great for his era but compared to all time greats like Ali, Marciano, Louis, Holyfield & Tyson he simply is something near nothing. If he becomes the champ, I blieve he would be the champ of one of the weakest heavyweight divisions ever.
Anyway.. he won't be an all time great, like I said, maybe a great for his era but I don't even believe that. And if I see somebody ranking him in an all time greats ranking before the likes of Ali, Marciano, Louis, Holyfield and Tyson... hell... I would be depressed.
This post pretty much says it all: great of his era, exceptional champion in a weak division and not ever close to the likes of Ali, Holyfield, Foreman et al.
at this rate he will be remembered as a guy with enormous potential whose dead-end negotiation tactics that have resulted in him going years without a notable win coupled with his non TV friendly style resulted in lack of public attention
Yes, of course. Wladimir will be remembered as a fantastic champion and a true gentlemen outside of the ring.

you can tell me anything about Wlad, but he still hasn't shown me a legitamite World Title Belt around his waist
Keep in mind....I never entered this thread making the case for Wlad being great....because that's retarded.
Do you consider the IBF and IBO belts legitimate? I do.

He'll have the IBF and IBO belts soon chief.
then the WBC and WBA for sure.

if he beats Byrd, then good 4 him
until then, he's the 2006 version of Tommy Gunn
Let's see, Wlad wins the WBO belt, but gets KTFO by anyone with a decent punch....
can you say......TOMMY MORRISON?!?!

if wlad beats byrd, he will probly be remembered as one of the best HWs in this era.
As terrible as this era is, if Wlad beats Byrd, and gets by Brewster, and actually unifies(which i doubt), then I think it would be unanimous thought that Wlad would be remembered as a great.
